Who here owns a Renaultsport?

looks good if genuine miles

although hes put a twin exhast on the back so hes cut away so they could fit, i would personaly change that for a single or a hidden one from K-tech

Agreed, I'd prefer a single too. I don't think a hidden one would be an option considering there's a hole in the bumper.

exactly, thats why i got mine in "original" condition becuase i can put a k-tech stealth on with no cutting and still looks good for when i come to sell it (waiting for the oiginal exhaust to drop off )

That's how I'd do it too.

Hopefully ordering a few bits and bobs for mine, H&R's, Whiteline ARB's, front bumper is being resprayed due to stone chips etc, roof is being resprayed due to someone keying it, carbon doorcards and carbon cup spoiler hopefully being ordered, half cage once the group buy gets started and the car is having paint correction done on Sunday.

Christmas has come early for my car :D

I've got the KTec Stealth v2 on my car and I'm well chuffed with it. I wouldn't have an exhaust poking out the back or a twin exit either, looks a bit silly IMO.

The stealth keeps the subtle look of the Clio 172 that was intended.

You're probably right, but I'm finding the prices are consistent for this year/model on pistonheads and autotrader. I think used car prices have risen recently.

@Evo - not as many toys on the Ph1?

It has aircon, what more do you need :) :p

cool!

Whats the sound like? is it similar to standard but when you put your foot down its a bit louder? i dont want one thats loud all the time, i had that on my 200sx and it gave me head aches lol

Thought I'd resurrect this thread...

Possibly looking at downgrading my Z4...

Want a Clio 182 with both cup packs. However it doesn't seem to be that straight forward finding one. I like Black/blue/orange/yellow.

Im still looking around at the moment and just came across this example.

Firstly, is this racing blue couolour desireable for resale? I wouldnt pay over £5500 for that. Has it got both cup packs?

With it being a 54 plate am I right in thinking its over 5 years old that it would have had the cambelt changed and also the aux belt done at 36k. If my calculations are right, this car wouldnt require an Aux and cambelt change now until the car reaches 72k or in 5 years time? Im finding the schedule quite confusing.

Racing blue is a good colour, at first I didn't like it but now if I was buying one I think it's the only colour I'd have.

Not sure what's for sale up on Cliosport at the mo but worth a look.

Well the belt should be changed at 5 years or 72k, whichever comes first.

So whenever the belts have been done you then say from then on it's either 5 years time or another 72k.

So say the car had them done at 40k 6 months ago (just using as an example) they would need doing either in 4.5 years time (5 years minus the 6 months already passed) or at 112k (40k plus the 72k interval).

Not tricky to work out :)

Thanks I think that cleared it up. Is the Aux belt every 36k though? or do they both get done at 72k or 5 years? :o

Cup packs:-

The aero pack is quite easy to tell, its got a little rear wing and a little front splitter (although it sometimes comes off and is quite expensive to replace from renault so many dont bother)

The suspension pack comes with the darker grey alloys, but obviously thats fairly easy for someone with a non-cupped car to put on. Probably easier to hunt out the original invoice than to go in measuring bits of suspension.

The one you linked to would appear to be cupped

That's great thanks. Really interested in that. Just ran an insurance quote off and its going to be £400 a year cheaper too which is a nice bonus. Would the insurance company give me some money back as Im 4 months into my insurance?

Its actually harder to find a non cup packed version than a cup packed version.

http://www.renaultsport.co.uk/roadcars/heritage/182/

Click on sales data and colour range.

Although people may say that the FF182 is quite common there were just over 5200 sold in the UK which really isnt all that many. The were also just over 500 182 Cups and 500 182 Trophies, so a total run of just over 6200.

On another note I just got an exhaust leak fixed on mine and it feels like its found about 50 bhp. I had no idea it was so down on power. It actually goes like its meant to now :) I suggest that you look for one that has had it exhaust replaced as at 5 years it will be due. A Renault exhaust from cat back on a 182 is around £900. I just went for a Milltek for £350 on my 182. A Renault cat is also about £900, but Milltek and Janspeed do sportcats for around £350.

Ooh, nice thread resurection. I've managed to convince myself that providing I can fit my ample frame into one, I want a 172 to give me ****'s and gigles for a year or 2 before I have to start being 'sensible' and growing up.

Looking at 172's though, there appears to be massive variation in price from £2,500 to £5,000 for the FF, whereas the Cups available (of which there aren't many) are pretty much all £3-£3,500. How bad are the Cups for day to day use? Ive got a monster commute at the moment and I would envisage the Clio remaining as my only car, so the leather/climate/etc of the FF would be beneficial as long as it doesn't have a massive effect on performance (I will want to track it as well).

Skeeter - As you have a monster commute id suggest you sway towards the FF version mainly due to the fact that you gain ABS (never know when you might need it) but more importantly aircon which im sure when summer comes you would regret not having if you have a good commute :)

Little update on my 182 - I sold it back in December and now drive a Focus ST3. Its a very different car but in many ways a grown up (and thirstier 182). Sold the 182 to a mate though so still get to see it but not sure it will be kept in as good condition as when i had it

personally as your a long comute, i would not get a cup or Full Fat variants, just get standard clio sport, it will be more comftable and bareable
sports have a slightly harder suspension than the normal clios and other cars, the cup version are even stiffer

I want a track weapon to hoon about in like a teenager for a year or 2 before having to grow up. With the comute im already having to dilute the Cup to the FF version to keep me comfortable, but im definately not going below a 172 as this then become just "a sporty Clio", which is not what im after.

TBH, im not buying the car to be comfortable, im buying it to be a right laugh :)
