Who here owns a Renaultsport?

Solved my squealing brakes today along with doing an oil change. I read last night on CS about not putting the brake shims in when fitting DS2500s. I had them in which is why they were squealing like mad!

Car is feeling good at the moment. My k-tec stealth supersport exhaust is getting a bit loud though, that drone! I'm feeling the need for a quieter exhaust and a k-tec induction kit. :)

So this was the little monster that has had my dash squealing like a ***** for the last year. It was intermittent in all honesty which is why I never solved it sooner but it was becoming almost constant.

My other half managed to find the source which was the bottom of the glove box towards the door.

After numerous kicks/punches/swearies it never improved and this would be why:

I don't know if it worked itself loose or had been fiddled with by the previous owner but nevertheless it's been tightened back up now and I can't replicate the squeak anymore.

You can just see the nut under the corner of the trim, the flash has hidden it somewhat.

So yeah, if you have a squeak coming from your passenger foot well/glove box or a creaky dash, try here.

Found a RS Tuner on CS and have bought it, hopefully turn up soon.

Someone has a ph1 airbox +filter for sale, is that worth a gander? I've heard the rumours that they're pretty good.
The other way could be to do a homemade induction kit ala ktec? I don't really know which would be better

Neither are going to make the car faster. Both will make the car louder. Just depends what your after really.

Has anyone had the front wheel bearings replaced by a garage? If so how much was it?

Getting a rear drivers side brake caliper replaced tomorrow. Its been sticking for a little while so decided I better do something about. Seems quite a common fault.

Hard to explain, feels a little like the ABS kicking in and generally can be felt when lightly applying the brakes at lowish speeds. Wonder if i've warped a front disc or something. The rear caliper that was replaced was shot, the piston wasn't moving.

Mine sometimes feels like it's sliding when lightly braking - can feel something through the pedal, wondered if it was on uneven surface but think it may be something more serious?!

Got a new centre exhaust mount to fit, was just too cold today!

Seriously looking at the 200 next year.

My 172 will be nearly 10 years old, needs a new clutch (65k), belts due in the next 18 months.

If I don't get one then I will be keeping the 172 probably another 5 years. Think it will be about the only one left on the road!

Sounds familiar :p. I'm a veteran of 4 sets of front disks.

What happens if you jump on the brakes hard? If it gives a noticeable noise and pedal vibration its going to be something to do with the front brakes. New disks are only 30 quid so worth doing just to see if they get rid of the problem.

My Clio sort of cut out on the motorway this morning! Joining the M25, just getting off the slip road and was doing about 55 in 5th, put my foot down and nothing, dropped a gear and still nothing, then it kicked into life. What the hell?!

alexisonfire, did you say there are 2 colours of ATE Superblue? I can only find the blue stuff and I already have that so bleeding will be a pain.

My mates 182 with ds2500 is still juddering after a track day 3 wks ago. I was assuming it would clear up but it's still there under hard braking.

Any thoughts? Could it also be a worn track rod end that I've read about?

This thread has been quiet recently!

Well, my much loved Clio is going. After a few weeks looking around and travelling I bought a black phase 1 Megane 225 today with Cup alloys (also has a panoramic roof). The Megane is in pretty epic condition with no obvious scuffs/dents on the body work and the engine bay was also really clean (cambelt done too!). It drove beautifully so I took the plunge as my Clio is just starting to feel too small for me. I'll miss it but I think it's time for a change.

Will be picking it up next weekend (it's going to be a long week...)

A quick picture for you all! (ignore the quality, was taken through glass as I was walking away to go home). :p

Nice!

Mines an oversized and expensive paperweight at the moment. Battery is to flat to operate the central locking but still sets the alarm off if I open it :(

My plans are to leave it alone for a while to be honest and just enjoy it over the winter and spring. I'd like to get it detailed at some point too so it looks spotless! As for mods I'm probably going to get some lowering springs and a short shifter kit. I'd like to get xenons fitted too, will have to research into that first though! Could do with a wheel refurb too as the passenger side alloys are scuffed a bit unlike the pretty spotless drivers side!

Won't be getting a silly loud exhaust for it either, just a nice sporty sounding one perhaps! I've done the loud exhaust thing on my Clio and being honest I haven't enjoyed it all that much! :p

The alternator has just failed on my 182. It's getting to an age now when things are starting to fail and need replacing. Had to replace a brake caliper a week or so ago. It's off the road now and i'll look at getting the alternator replaced early next year and then I think its time to get shot of it. I'll have had it around five and a half years by then so its done me pretty well.
