Nice purchase captain, i do love the 225's etc, an R26R is certainly on my list of cars to get next.
Been a little quiet on here from me. So a big post...
Got some new front and rear high carbon discs (painted to stop corrosion, although i don't really keep them long enough for this to happen  ), rear wheel bearings and some OEM mintex pads for the rear. Not actually checked the front pads so haven't ordered any yet, but im pretty sure they are ok. I have heard these pads eat discs quite quickly compared to the wear rate of the pads. Just taxed the car and also bought some new Cobra Suzuka GT seats, but they don't fit at the moment because 1) they are gt width and 2) my i can't move my side mounts over because of my welded in spreader plates. Can't be arsed with faffing about with them so will probably sell them on.
Bought an absolutely awesome Michelin ultra low + quick lift jack...its really rather good, and makes working on my car so much easier.
One of these...
Changed the rear discs, pads and ABS rings today with the help of max (as my back is still bad). Checked the fronts and there's still plenty of life left in them, which is nice to know as the front pads aren't cheap.
I saved some money on the rear discs this time by buying them without ABS rings as i knew mine where brand new at the beginning of the year. Turns out simply "tapping them with a screwdriver" was no way going to budge them. So a quick trip to halfords to get a bearing puller (and some cheeky screwdrivers on offer for £15, BARGAIN)...and we tried again £40 lighter, so much for money saving.
I don't have a decent work bench and no vise, so i had to improvise  It worked for the first abs ring, but actually bent one of the C clamps in half  For the second disc we bolted it on the back of a wheel and put a spanner over the hole for puller to push down on.
And googlemaps got updated \

One of my xenons has been bust for a while, broken ballast. Well a few days ago my other one went while i was driving along at 70mph at 6:30pm. Pitch black b road and no lights
It was terrifying. Instead of getting the xenons fixed/replaced (which is a lot of money) I decided to get some brand new cup headlights instead. £70 delivered with bulbs
Skip forward to today. Taking the front off was just a pain in the absolutely ass. Not to mention i have man flu, a bad back and it was -2 outside today. Was not fun.
Big package turned up early morning!
Car jacked up ready to go. Macbook at hand with a guide just incase
My xenons weren't in the best condition anyway, and one was obviously not sealed as it was full with condensation.
Only one photo of it all out because i was raging and couldn't be bothered. And no, i don't know why there is a lizard drawn on the slam panel
Shows where my induction filter sits and with CAF.
Testing everything before it all goes back together!
Next up was to fit my new splitter, its actually from a skoda so needed a bit of modification. Held in place with a c-clamp, drilled and screwed, did this all the way along and worked quite well. Then all it needed was a little bit nipped off the end with a stanley knife.
All back together
So i thought that was all dandy, get it off stands, turn key, car won't turn over. I spend the next hour going over everything again, checking all the stuff i moved/touched. Everything was done right. :?
All the lights worked, heater etc. Couldn't get the car out of the garage because its on a hill. Get my dad to squeeze the V8s into place for some jump leads. Try it, leave for a couple mins. Nothing, still won't turn over. Que me rage quiting and phoning the AA.
Turns out my battery (which is the original, 9 years and 75k miles old) has given up. Its only running 105 out of 440 but with a 12.28 voltage. He gets it going and i just popped down to halfords to be robbed of £75 for a new battery. Very annoying as i going to be replacing it with a race battery very soon for the boot. Its got 4 years warranty, so im sure someone will take it off my hands for £45 in a months time with the receipt.
