Who here owns a Renaultsport?

Has anyone had any problems with a rattling exhaust heatshield at 6k+ revs?

I've glued various areas of mine to the bottom of the car with Araldite and it's reduced it a little but it still vibrates and sounds horrible :(

Check the heatshield right at the back above the tailpipes. It generally wears through there where its screwed onto the car and can be fixed by using a couple of large washers.

On the tyre front i fitted 4 Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD 3's not all that long ago, a bit cheaper than the PE2's and I fancied trying something different. Can't say i notice a massive difference, if anything possibly a little bit more grip in the dry than the PE2's.

Im currently saving hard for my 182's replacement and im actually having a hard time deciding what to go for.

I can confirm that on my 172 atleast the sensor is where the others have showed it to be. Just spent the last hour leaning on mine polishing the lights. Dont know if they moved it in later 182's...

In other news, Wet n Dry + T Cut + Elbow Grease = Shiny clear headlights!

well thanks to this thread, you have inspired me to buy a 172 ph2, picked her up last week, absolute stunning to drive and lots of :D:D:D every time i sit in it.

iceberg silver, 2002 and totally standard.

The interior/exterior is immaculate, i dont know how it has been kept so clean for so long, engine is clean but need to give it a detail when i get a chance.

picked it up from yorkshire and did me 40.1mpg on way home sat at 70mph

lovin it!

or because the RS4 driver knew the clio owner he didnt push 100 %

dont be daft and think that a renaultsport clio is as fast as an RS4.

LOL, i wasn't being serious im quite aware of the Clios limitations especially compaired to an RS4 :) It was just a bit of fun in regards to the post about the 182 vs Subaru. The video quite clearly shows the RS4 stretching its legs, especially towards the end of the clip.

To be honest though, It probably is. The road they are driving there, the extra power isn't really going to make it much faster as there is nowhere to use it. Cornering ability wins here.

Just because the rs4 costs 50k and has 400+ horses doesn't mean its instantly going to thrash the pants of a small hatch on a twisty road.

An STi is nearer 280 BHP (unless a new model which is 300 or so) and trying to take on one in a Clio is somewhat more than optimistic. I guess I shot myself in the foot posting the above clip :( It was meant to be in jest in response to the fact you took on the WRX STi. Why not try a league higher :)

Funnily enough a new model WRX STi is on the short list to replace my 182.

are we watching the same video here ?

im not watching some tight and twisty back road, i'm seeing what appears to be basically be a fast A road. The bends are long and sweeping, and the tyres on the clio can be heard screaming for dear life.

the 4x4 RS4 should be able to hold much higher speeds in those sort of long sweeping corners, the driver is either chicken or letting him catch up. There are quite a few straight sections, where the RS4 scampers off, but the clio comes back in the corners where he can hold the same corner speed as the RS4.

exactly.

we found a 'enthusiastic' RS4 owner round some backroads behind eden not long back giving it some, couldn't believe our luck  quite hard to find such machinery 'up for it'. seriously, could not shift my friend in his 106 GTI (not standard) from its arse. i was in the teg at the time and had to back off they were giving it that much

take the main advantage these cars have, the power, out of the scenario and its any mans game.

but in that vid im surprised the RS4 couldnt pull a lead, quite some lengthy stretches there! must be more to it.

Hurrah!
