Who here owns a Renaultsport?

What sort of price would you value it at? The belts have been done, the guy is insistent it's mint in and out, FSH, the guy is about 50 years old. I can't spot anything in the pics apart from a tiny bit of wear on right hand side of the steering wheel. Mileage is good. Says no gearbox issues what so ever etc.

He liked the idea of a PX regarding my BMW initially but now thinks my car is too close to the value of his to go for it... so I'd have to sell mine first. Not sure if I should get into the hassle of swapping sometimes, I've had perhaps 8 cars in 2 years, can't settle :D

Now £3250 :p

Getting tempting if I could get him enough under 3k. I do love the colour and am happy to pay slightly more for that over a silver etc one. Again, the service history and recent work its had done is all stuff that I (hopefully) wouldn't have to factor in like I probably would on a cheaper one. Plus it's just down the road so again avoids the cost of travelling to get it.

And the MOT history is about as clean as any of the ones I've checked so far.

If you know they're likely to have looked after it, then paying a little extra might just be worth some peace of mind. Although that's not to say something else goes wrong.

I'm fully expecting something to go wrong, just hoping that paying the extra for one in "better" condition means it might only be something minor. It seems like a minefield with these cars either way though.

There are enough success stories of people paying £500 for one that runs like a dream and likewise people paying top dollar only for it to go pop a week later. :(

I have been looking at 182s as a weekend toy.
Something to stop me messing with my mazda....

Found one very local, black 182 with packs for 2350... but 128k. Not happy with paying 1500 or more tbh and there are plenty of 182 for under a 1500. Will go have a look

Can people strap turbo's to the 172/182's?

Just seen a 172/182 set off and it was no normal car, was like a rocket ship.

Both turbo and supercharger kits are available. Around 230bhp for the low pressure turbo conversion which uses standard engine internals, 300bhp+ for the high pressure conversion but needs forged pistons etc.

must have had something done to it as i have never seen a FWD car accelerate like that. It launched off like a 4wd/rwd car.

Was silver with red wheels and roll cage if anyone knows it off one of the clio sites.

Don't automatically assume it was turbocharged because it destroyed your wafty BMW:p

They are really quick with the standard engine, especially when they've lost a bit of weight (alloys/rear seats/AC/sound proofing/isofix etc).

Any other places to look out for 172/182 for sale other than ebay/cliosport? Looking for a decent one to use for Sprint/Hillclimbing but needs to be standard!

Orate Timothy, smarty pants.

Yes you are correct :p

But.... this car was still seriously mental quick, like smash vxrs, mps's and ST's without even breaking a sweat.

Owned both a 172 and more recently a liquid yellow r26. Both were fun to drive, especially the r26. However, the build quality was dire and I got sick of having to replace parts, so sold both. I regret selling the r26 though. Despite its many quirks...
