Who here owns a Renaultsport?

I finally got around to using my RSTuner on the 182 tonight. I uploaded a performance map from www.fastchip.nl and it's made noticeable improvements. The car is much more happy with less vibrations at idle and the power delivery has been smoothed out so there is less of a 'kick' at 5k revs. This results in much better torque lower down in the rev range, which = :D

Very pleased indeed. Looking forward to giving it a proper drive tomorrow to see how it feels.

£2500/3000 enough for a decent PH2 172? Fed up of messing about, might as well pay £1300 insurance for something I actually want to drive rather than another crap stop-gap...

I would say you should get an okay one for that. The decent ones are around 3.5k

Were Recaros a factory fit option on the Clio 182? ( 2005 / FF version)

Yes (standard on the Trophy though). Quite expensive and not widely chosen IIRC, and not common amongst the 182 ads that I've "not been looking at honest".

However it's just a normal Recaro model Renault used, and thus quite easily retrofitted http://www.cliomods.com/styling/fittingrecaros/.

Recaros were a £550 option on a standard 182, £850 on the cups. Not expensive really and generally weren't chosen due to availability/build times, they were a female dog to get hold of apparently if you didn't want to wait ages for your car.

Also was a later option I believe not available from the start, but could be wrong.

Thanks guys.

He's just confirmed that he chose them as an option from new.

I've seen one that takes my fancy although I'd like to get the price down about £500 if I'm honest.

Looks a good buy, and sadly already very well priced but market for these has taken a little dip since last time I looked.

My guess is 5k would be his target.

Those seats sell for a small fortune second hand, can usually get around 700/800 for them in a swap with someone.

Thats a bargain if he isn't hiding anything. £500 less would be great.

Mmmm, I can see me buying one of these shortly.

I'm starting to get my hopes up.

He has reciept of the cambelt change from his local Renault dealership too.

Got an aftermarket Exhaust on it as the standard one had cracked and therefore failed the MOT last month.

What else can I ask?! :o

Shame its so far away!

Interesting!

Is there anything I should ask him specifically?

Ive asked for the service schedule and where they were done.
Hes the first owner.

Pity its so far away! Anybody in Berkshire?? :D

EDIT : Is that 700/800 plus the standard half leather seats??

That looks very nice indeed. Mine was £4,900, and in hindsight was a bit overpriced for what it was. I've had to put a fair amount of money into it to get it into a good state.

I am of course now in love with it. I know it's only a Clio, but I spent 8 years from passing my test driving a crappy 1997 Corsa. I find myself looking back at my car when I park it up because I think it looks awesome. Sad, I know! :D

What's the colour of yours called? I'm currently referring to it as "the Blue of Awesome" :D, but there seems to be two shades of blue that 182s come in .

The above pictures aren't a great comparison. They are massively different in the flesh though.

Hi Tom,

Not sure what is the make of the exhaust as it was an aftermarket exhaust and I just needed to get it replace in order to pass the MOT and start selling the car. I still have the receipt of the exhaust.

The car has been involved in 1 accident in 2007 and had the front bumpers, grill and bonnet replaced. I want to say that the fault was from the third party and I made the full claim. There was also a minor accident beginning of this year in which some guy reverse out from his parked space in a car park and scratch the passenger side of the front bumper, again the fault was from the third party and I made a full claim.

You are more than welcome to do a HPI check.

I will be taking some photos to send to the other interested party tommorow so I will make sure I take some photos of the scratchs on the car including the curbed alloys.

Let me know whether you are still interested in the car after I send you the photos tommorow and then we can discuss about the price.

I am based in the Langley in Berkshire.

Regards

Billy

Can't ask for anything more genuine than that surely?

Am I right in thinking that he doesn't have to tell me any of that about any knocks the car has had as it won't come up on a HPI unless its a write off?

Is that accident anything to be worried about do you think?

He has an oriental sounding surname and email address so that will explain why some of the wording is a bit dodgy.

Would you guys let number of owners put you off?

This one has a price drop to £4600, 40k miles, cambelt done at Renault with Renault service history, supposedly immaculate but she is the 4th owner.

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1817079.htm

The one with the recaros I posted about is advertised at £700 more,1
1 owner, scratch on drivers door, curbed alloys, and it was in an accident ( someone else's fault so he claimed on insurance in 2007 - required bumper, grill and bonnet.)

I'm stuck here. The first one with more owners was due to trade it in at 3pm so she will delay that if I go and look at it.

Both cars are miles away an about 3 hour
drive.

I personally wouldn't buy one thats been in an accident at all. Theres enough around. Given I was being offered between £2500 to £3000 as a trade in over the last month or so for mine I'd suggest that £5,000 was more than optimistic for one now days. I think £4000 to £4500 is probably a lot more realistic so the one above isn't badly priced.

In the one advertised above they have changed the badges on the side to 16V rather than the 2.0 16V and the rear one for some reason.

Thanks mate, hadn't noticed that.

Can understand changing the side ones
so they blend in but not sure why the rear has
lost the sport badge.

I'll send her an email now.

Just had this reply from her -

My username is KirstyLou and I have now changed the bullets on the side to the proper ones that say 2.0l 16valve. They are silver.

The car was like that when I bought it, i was intending to get the new Renault Sport badge on the back but never got round to it. Im taking it the previous owner took it off.

Looks like I better sign up on cliosport and check her out
