Who here owns a Renaultsport?

Yep I hope so. It is out of tax at the end of this
month but still a decent deal I feel. She was part-exing at Arnold Clark so I knew I had a decent price before I got there providing the car was decent. I pushed for a bit more discount but couldn't get it any cheaper.

Will post some pics this afternoon

Awesome deal you've got yourself there.

Members over on CS suggest not swapping or rotating tyres due to them taking shape and different loads depending on the side/camber and positioning of front and back. This may however be total BS. Probaly just find it's a balancing issue :)

Pritty sure rotating tyres is actually false economy anywhooo.

Enjoy it, it's only the second car I've owned and I've only driven a few others but can see why it's rated so highly. Wait till the summer when the roads are dry. With collies it's supposed to be like being on rails!

Hasn't yours already got the cup packs?

I thought it did, but I guess it didn't have the cup pack which included the splitter and spoiler. Unfortunately when I bought it I didn't know enough about these things. The splitter I have on there now is the usual Skoda jobby that everyone has, and now I have the spoiler on the way, so hurrah! :)

Yeah I rang Yozzasport who aren't that far from me and he suggested rotating the tyres as a temporary measure. Im not sure what this has proved exactly but the vibrating has gone so I'm happy.

I thought you posted a photo a couple of pages back, I never noticed it didnt have the spoiler then.

BTW what exhausts have everyone got on their 182?

I don't know whether to replace with the standard Renault one or to change to the Scorpion 192 exhaust. I don't believe for one second that any performance gain is to be had from the exhaust but I'm led to believe that its a really quiet exhaust and not much different from the standard Renault one.

One thing I did notice was that there was only one back box? The Renault one has one for each pipe? (At least I think thats what the back box is?)

Depends on the accident surely. Low speed bumps and it's win win as you get a load of fresh parts and better paintwork. Great!

I suppose thats one way of looking at it :) Never really thought of it that way.

When you see how much the Renault exhaust costs you'll quickly be looking at a stainless replacement such as the Yozza, Milltek or Scorpion 192 :)

It has a spoiler but just the standard one. The cup spoiler is slightly different.

I would highly recommend Milltek. They get a bit of bashing on ClioSport as people say the quality isn't great, but that's what lifetime warranties are for :p

I love mine, not too much louder than standard, but just right considering it's a hot hatch. Sounds much nicer and looks much better in my opinion.

Ive got the K Tec 182 style exhaust on my 172. It looks slightly better than the standard 182 exhaust (fatter ends on the pipes) and sounds just right that it gives good noise at low speed but doesnt bellow. I wouldn't want something that just shouts "CHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAV CHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAVVV BRAP BRAP!" as you drive everywhere :)

And whilst rotating tyres may be a flase economy and not a real solution, it does allow you to firgure out where the vibration is from. If you feel vibration through the steering wheel and swap them and it goes, then its likely balancing.

When I swapped mine it didnt go, so the replacement ball joints on the front to get through the MOT werent a surprise :)

my scorpian straight through exhaust does pretty much that, i like the flame popping tendancy on ragging/overrun but other than that it sounds crap so i took it off. you can't drive or start the thing quiet with it, bloody annoying at night in neighbourhoods etc

my magnex is much nicer sounding although it does have a single expansion chamber in the midsection though :( but gives a far more throaty than tinny gargled noises of the scorpian. it only makes noise really if i open the second tb butterfly, so driving 'normal' its just as quiet as the OE equivelent.

I've the Milltek too. Love the sound. Not boomy at all on the motorway . Infact it's not really boomy or droney at anything over 40mph all the way up to.... ;)

Lower down the revs in first and second when crawling over speed bumps you get a nice low rumble to it which I love. As the revs climb it begins to sound more like the standard exhaust but a bit louder and deeper.

They get a bashing over on CS as the welds aren't brilliant, though I think it might have been a dodgey batch. Also the tolerances aren't brilliant and it can take some faffing to sit right. Even with new mounts mine wouldn't sit right so is cable tied around the mounts until K-tec give it a look over this weekend when I have my custom map done. Lifetime warranty though so a winner there.

Best bet would be to go to a CS meet and have a listen to the different systems and have some passenger rides in each. Though I did some drive by films of my Milltek and it sounds 100x better from the outside!

I completely agree, I did a video of my Milltek (below) and I was amazed at how different it sounded outside, and slightly from a distance. It's just perfect for me. I also love the sound when engine braking :)

The video includes a slight rattley noise as the car accelerates, this has since been fixed :)

That doesn't sound too boy racerish actually. It just seems like there's no exhaust noise at the moment and it's all from the engine.

What's the best way to get an exhaust? Buy online and get someone to fit it? Or do garages get them in for you?

Head over onto CS:)

You can have custom ones made if you don't mind parting with the cash.

Or you could pick some up second hand.

Fitting the new one is very straight foward if you're familiar with a socket set and have several braincells. However getting the old one off is a total c-unit. Even with my mates pit we still couldn't twist it the right way or get it over the rear beam as it was an all in one where as the Milltek has a join just before the rear beam. Ended up cutting my old one off.

Or you can just pay a specialist to fit it for you think it's about £50-60 and you don't need to worry about getting it to sit right.

Quick video of my Yozza Sport exhaust with a de-cat fitted, sounds pretty crazy and very loud but I like it (quality for those b-road blasts!). Quality wise it is close to if not the best you can get for 1*2 models.

Not long sold my 172 Cup. Was a great car however I have just purchased an R26. Wow at the step up! The pace and road handling is just immense, makes the cup feel a bit like a metro :D My advice for people who want to move on from the 1*2's, get the MRS! R26/R pref!
