Who here owns a Subaru?

what code bulbs do i need to be buying? I want to replace all the headlight bulbs to some better brighter ones.

ECP are listing all kinds of different code bulbs though. Thanks

Headlight bulbs are H1
Sidelight bulbs are 501
Rear light clusters can use 7440 bulbs for everything (I've just switched all mine to LED)
Numberplate bulbs are 501
Interior lamp and map lights are festoon (will confirm the size)
Boot light is 501

Kosta, oh god... I hope mine aren't so much of a PITA :(

Yep, they'll do. Same as what I use actually. They include sidelight bulbs too.

Main beam are separate. Not sure what bulbs as I've never changed them.

You need to take the headlight out to change the bulbs but it's easy. 2 10mm bolts on top of the headlight. Remove the front grille by popping the clips. 1 or 2 bolts just behind the grille and then pop out a few of the black plastic clips from the bumper, pull it forward while you remove the headlight.

Not changing the shocks just yet but going off Kosta's horror stories on the rear suspension I've just had a go at the bolts.

Only tried one side and they were FT but managed to get them loose. Fingers crossed for the other side.

Although the dust covers on the shocks are dry today... Does the fluid/gas evaporate and dry up if the car hasn't been used for a couple of days? They were both definitely wet on Saturday.

Changed the bulbs, they look the same. thought they would be whiter.

Hopefully they lighten up the road a lot better than the ones before, they really was awful though.

What bulbs did you take out? Mine had some Osram bulbs and the Philips definitely gave off a whiter light. Not 5000k HID white, but noticeable. Used the same bulbs on my old WRX too.

Picked up the new shocks and springs tonight. Imagine my surprise when the rear shocks turned out to be KYB Ultra SR. I've checked the part numbers and everything appears to be for the widetrack hubs. It all looks in good condition too, definitely not seen much use.

Bugger nose, chucked em straight in the bin lol...

I was looking at suspension last night but then realised my car needs different suspension from the normal STI's.

Does my car need the hawkeye suspension? So 2005 onwards? Or has it only got its own select few of suspension? Shows how much i looked into all this before buying :D

That's the issue I've had when looking.

The widetrack STis (late blob and hawkeye) changed wheel PCD from 5x100 to 5x114. With this change came different hubs with different suspension mountings. The shocks changed from red to black and you might see this in your search... 'not compatible with black shocks'

Non widetrack STis and all WRXs use the 5x100 fitment and suspension is interchangeable.

From what I've read, KYB do rear shocks in both fitments but only front shocks for the 5x100 hubs.

Fitted the springs and shocks today, drivers side bolts were worse than passenger side! Slight drop, ride quality doesn't seem any worse and of course, no more knocking :D

Replaced the throttle body gasket and both intercooler hoses and STILL have my boost leak! A mate mentioned dump valve diaphragms are prone to leaking. Any truth to this? Starting to run out of ideas now.

Manchester.

I did make a bung for the inlet pipe allowing me to attach a pump/compressor and fill the system with air... I've just not got around to using my Dad's compressor. The hand pump I tried was a waste of time :D

Get yourself some thin aluminium sheet and cut a dump valve shaped blanking plate out, stick it on and see how it reacts.

I gained another Subaru nearly 40bhp on the dyno when I blocked his dump valve off because it was leaking.

Took it down to Nobles to see what power it is making up to yet:

It made 322BHP and 313lbft of torque. I was hoping for around 330BHP, but still happy with 322BHP, for now :D

PS, if you have decent speakers, turn them down :D

Nice one Ryan. At least you know it's healthy.

Will try to temporarily blank off the DV. Don't think it's losing any power though, just got an annoying whistle on boost.

Had mine MOT'd today. MOT tester noticed some bad wear right on the inside edge that I'd missed so ended up getting them to put a full set of Eagle F1 AS3s on. I was hoping they'd last until after Curburough but oh well.

The guy took it out for a spin to do the brake test. His words when he came back were along the lines of "That's ******* fast" :D

Just watched that video with headphones on and it does sound good! What are the mods Ryan? Is it just PPP and a 3" exhaust or has it had another remap? Did the dyno guys tell you what boost it was running?

Ordered a cheap off-cut of aluminium plate so will give blank the DV off and see what happens. Standard airbox though so unlikely I'll get any noticeable compressor stall :(
