Who here owns a Subaru?

Booked mine in to go on the rollers, i want to see what power it is making. I have a feeling it is around 320-330bhp.

Love the car. Best car i have ever had. Easy to be sensible in it, keeping off the boost. Absaloute animal when you want a bit of fun. Boots nice and big. Rear seats have plenty of space. Spot on car. Oh and it spits flames :D

Pretty much sums up my ownership so far. I previously had a Focus ST. In comparison to the Scoob it was just a Focus with a big engine and nice seats. This feels like a properly focussed performance car.

Trying to decide whether to do the centre console black whilst its out and do the vent surrounds to match, or possibly hydro dip them up at my dads placd when he isn't looking :D

I really like the black dash but I'm worried it will make it more bland than it already is.

Little bit more tinkering today. Ever since I have painted the grills, the pipe behind looks terrible as the paint has chipped off.

Gave it a rough up with a scouring pad and a couple of coats of black paint. Also gave one of the horns a touch up as that was in a similar state.

Also polished the back box a bit. Still got some work to do with a few stubborn carbon deposits:

Good work.

I've found that my new STi has some quite interesting differences as I've been taking it apart.

Firstly, the heatshields. The heatshield on the turbo/downpipe is secured everywhere and took me ages to find all the bolts holding it on. But once it was off I found I had to take another heatshield off under the downpipe to get to all the bolts. Never seen the lower on any other model I've worked on. Maybe they got left off due to how annoying they are :D

Secondly, a pipe attached under the intercooler for vacuum to the clutch. Again, never seen it before. I was quite nervous undoing it!

I've discovered these things whilst preparing to fit my new up pipe and ported manifold with GrimmSpeed crossover pipe.

Custom turbo back exhaust is getting done beginning of next week too. Cannot wait for the burble to return!

Well it's not surprise given that they have the same cats and silencers as the rest but then have an additional backbox reducing noise further!

Don't worry, balance will be restored. :D

I've just ordered a new single din head unit and a cubby hole. was going to go double din then i thought a din pocket would be handy for my phone - it always slides out of the 'cubby' hole infront of the gearstick when i boot it :D

I wanted bluetooth but decided against it because i have a little sunvisor bluetooth thing for my phone (which i rarely use anyway). Then i decided i wanted DAB, but didn't want the aerial stuck to the screen. Ended up with an ordinary head unit in the end but with android music control when i plug it in. Saved me about £100 over what i was going to spend, anyway :D

Need new floor mats and mudflaps next.

If I'd known you were willing to downgrade you could have had my cubby and single DIN that I removed to put the Pioneer in. :o

Ha, I've just bought another unit locally too. This one has DAB and Bluetooth. Looks like I will be returning the new one and using the better one.

Need speakers next and ill stop at that. Any suggestions?

If you can wait till tomorrow I'll see what my Dad fitted in his Blobeye, he's something like 5k into his audio build by the time you factor in the dual battery split charged system and big upgraded alternator from the states

Depending on how far you want to go Phil, consider investing in some sound deadening for the front doors. It makes a world of difference.

I used to always use Dynamat Xtreme but decided to try Silent Coat on the STi. About half the price of Dynamat. I covered the outer skin and most of the inner skin and fitted some homemade adapter rings to increase the speaker size from 5.25" to 6.5"

I threw in some old Infinity 605cs components and the bass output is very reasonable. I dont have a subwoofer fitted any more as don't really feel the lower end lacking.

I need to remove the driver's door card this week so will take a picture.

Please do :)

Don't want to go mad - some decent components would be plenty. Insulation sounds a good idea - the doors rattle like mad now!

@ScoobyDoo69 one for you.

Was looking into powergains from remaps and come across a post on here where you had a remap done on your PPP and you managed to get 370bhp from just a remap.

Who did this? Did you ever dyno it elsewhere? Was about 3am i read this, so i could have completelt read it wrong.

Does anyone on here have a Forester STi (SG9 - 2004-2007)?
I find myself liking them a lot, which doesn't happen very often so i'll probably end up buying one.
Interested to hear which bits are shared with the equivalent year Impreza STi & what they are generally like to live with as an everyday car.
I can't find much in the way of details of the drivetrain - does it have an LSD in the front/rear?

I won't spoil all of his fun answering for him, but it wasn't quite on pump fuel

Yes it may have been running a cheeky bit of meth. Tuned on the road though, RaceDynamix said it would have made more of dyno tuned. Then went on to do 406bhp with the VF43... :D it was a bit quick !

Fitted the head unit today. Still playing with the colours trying to get a nice match with the dash illumination. Bluetooth is neat as is the DAB.

What a stupid installation though. Never had a car with such a backwards design. Cubby hole doesn't look square in the image but its the angle the picture is taken at.
