Who here owns a Subaru?

Yep, it can be depending on the turbo and it's bearing configuration. Most turbos are sleeve/journal bearing with either a 270 or 360 degree bearing. Turbos with a 360 bearing provide more support for the impeller shaft and are a bit stronger.

Tempting Phil, very tempting :D

Not just the bearing design, but also the compressor wheel material. I wouldn't do it on something with a ceramic wheel.

I'm not too fussed on the potential slightly lower lifespan of a turbo given how cheap a replacement TD04 would cost me[/QUOTE]

Good shout on the material, forgot about that.

I ran without a DV for a few years when my Rover had it's T25 fitted, but after buying a T28 and then having to have it rebuilt, didn't dare do anything to risk damaging it... despite having it rebuilt with a 360º bearing.

Just watched that video with headphones on and it does sound good! What are the mods Ryan? Is it just PPP and a 3" exhaust or has it had another remap? Did the dyno guys tell you what boost it was running?

The pink line is the boost. Ill be honest, i havent got a clue what i am looking at but the guy who did the test said the graph was spot on and the car was running great.

My friend said he thought it looked a bit choppy on the power but i dunno.

Yeah, it has had a remap in its time. Not on the PPP map anymore.

I wouldnt mind 400BHP, but the prices are all over the place to do this.

Edit: oh, how this new site gets on my **** lol :p i cant suss out how to get the pic up from my phone anymore.

Fixed for you @Rybo89

just short of 19psi peak down to about 14psi by the redline which is about right IIRC. I'd personally want to target closer to 0.78-0.8 for lambda though (My tuning experience is somewhat limited though in fairness)

I'll dig my graph out but I'm sure mine boosts in the low to mid 20s. The previous owner took it to be mapped by JGM who I know was pretty well respected but you've got me wondering now if I need to get it checked out.

I have the feeling I drive it a bit harder than the last guy.

Thanks @Frozennova

I have the car booked in Thursday to have a full check over and for a quote to be done to have the underside cleaned and sealed. Bit suspicious though as they for some reason are quoting me how much new suspension and a FMIC will cost also, i never even asked. Didn't realise until i looked at the appointment sheet when i got home.

Starting to make my self think they gunna make out my car needs new everything lol.

If yours is a UK car it will already have been undersealed. I had a good look under mine when it was on the ramps yesterday and it looked really good.

Get the once over but I don't think there's any need to get it undersealed. Obviously just my input, not telling you what to do :)

I'm thinking of changing the exhaust. I currently have a decat/deres system with a Prodrive backbox. Would a switch to a Blitz NUR Spec be too much?

I would preferably have something with a bung for the mornings when I drive to work, don't want to pee the neighbours off!

Just seen this. I dint know that. Ill have to take a better look tomorrow.

Nur Spec R is very loud, Phil. That's why i I loved it!

With the bung in it will probably still be louder than the Prodrive box on startup. Just less bassy due to the size it forces it to come out of.

I don't mind it being louder but I don't want it to be horrendously so.

Do you have any recommendations for something somewhere between what I have now and the NUR Spec? Don't get me wrong - the Prodrive isn't exactly quiet but I put that more down to the decat.

The Nur Spec R is one of the loudest you can get..

ScoobyWorld's/Hayward & Scott's Ninja II is somewhere in between I'd say, and has a similar look to the Nur Spec.

The Cobra exhaust on my car is really quite loud, but like Kostas said above i do love a nice loud exhaust on full chat :P

It did however go a little quieter when i put the headers on.

I had a Nur Spec R on my classic, sounded amazing under WOT but was embarrassingly loud and the drone it produced used to drive me crazy. I changed it for a Hayward and Scott system which sounded amazing but was a lot more reasonable in terms of the noise it made (it was actually track day friendly!). I believe a Roger Clark Motorsport Team ICE exhaust is just about the loudest you could fit to an Impreza...

I'd recommend the Milltek system... Bought it relatively recently and it's spot on! I also just bought a set of Speeline Turini in Anthracite and got them put on yesterday evening:

Anyone else scoob have a similar noise?

When i first drive it i get a noise from the rear, sounds like a stone in the tyre as the noise goes with the speed of the car. Only lasts around 30 seconds then it goes away. Did initially think it was a stone in my tyre given i have a stone driveway but it isn't.

Reckon the rear diff might need topping up? Or need some new oil in?
