Who here owns a Subaru?

3rd 4th and 5th are the gears that i pull really hard in, litterally change up just as i get to 7k may overspill a few times.

My issue currently is getting off the line and 1st to 2nd, im guilty of changing up too early in first, hence i drop revs circa 4k and have to wait a couple of 10ths for the powerband, i need to be brutal i think in first, hopefully not over revving, making a good gear change. That should give me a chance to break an 11.99 :D

I wouldn't worry about over revving in 1st. Hitting the limiter will still be better than changing too early. 1st to 2nd is always very hard though because it goes so fast!

Clocked over 1000 yesterday. :)

Anyone got opinion on whether to change to first round of oil? We know how fragile these things are ;)

Actually decided the stereo isn't as bad as first thought. Managed to get it sounding pretty good. Horn is horrendously feminine so might get those hella horns which seem to be di rigueur for scoobs these days.

Happy with fuel consumption. Will easily do 30+ on a run. Quite a decent place to be on a run. Seats are comfy and far better than they look. My left leg used to ache after a while in my Audi which I haven't had in the scoob. Even though it has a more upright position than the old ones, you do sit in rather than on. Cabin is spacious and my 4 Year old is noticeably further away than in the Audi. Can fit all my RC race gear in the boot no problem, which I was a little concerned about.

One thing I'm really happy about is that even though it has the OE exhaust I can still hear the burble which is great imo. I tend to leave the diff in auto or auto plus and in the school run and round town I leave it in I drive. Haven't used Sport Plus much but the lurch forward when you turn the dial gives you an indication of intent. :D

More than happy with the car. With the current crop of cars in its sector it certainly holds its own.

I changed mine at 1000. Was not risking it. The oil was like water too, very thin.

Point of note, when (if) you remove the crank sensor to prime the engine with the new oil - to start the engine cranking obviously use the start button, but you have to press it again to stop the cranking.

Had an interesting moment in the car on Friday. First time I had driven it since the brake overhaul, brakes reasonably hard and the car wanted to pull me left into a hedge.

Had done the brake lines, pads and fluid the weekend before so knew it was related to that. Googled (first car with Brembos) and read about the shims corroding underneath and pushing them up, making it tight for the pad to move freely.

Pads back out today and filed the edges down slightly as I didn't fancy stripping heads on the shim retaining bolts. Put it all back together, re-bled (this time in the correct order) and went for a spin. What a difference :D

They now feel as Brembos should do. Very encouraging when stopping now, love it.

Yep been out for a couple of laps. Steering wobble about half way round when braking on each lap, discs getting too hot I think. Also need moar lows, little bit boat-like to be honest but she was going well.

There are pictures from the day uploaded which I will upload when I get back.

Fatalities today though. Bad times.

Awesome, glad you're having fun.

I went in 2010, not sure I'd go again even though I know the Impreza is a different beast to my Rover... It's just too dangerous, as you've found out.

RIP to those involved.

What suspension are you running?

The only suspension mod I ever had done is a beefed up rear ARB (22mm Whiteline) and it makes a noticeable difference. There's a suggestion that Subaru deliberately left the suspension on the STi slightly soft either to increase ride comfort, or (my theory) to scare drivers before they hit the limits of the car.

It was definitely letting me know when it was about to bite. Its been a great weekend, I have learned so much about the car!

What oil did you use please?

So, my P0302 Cylinder 2 Misfire has disappeared. Not really sure how/why, but heres what I did:

- Cleaned MAF. Some oily/dusty gunk but not too bad.
- Cleaned IACV. Evidence of carbon build up.
- Cleaned PCV. Was sticking closed slightly but not major
- Checked for vacuum leaks. Couldn't find any.

Whilst I did this I was running Morris fuel system cleaner through it.

I had a trip to the Nuburgring a couple of weeks ago and before I left I followed a guide to reset the ECU and re-calibrate the IACV. The fault still presented itself on the way to Dover however on the other side of the pond it went and hasn't been back since.

I'm not sure if it was a combination of everything or the re-calibration sorted it after a couple of drive cycles. Either way, it's gone and running sweet as a nut.

I always found my car ran better after a track day, could be it blasted any deposits off any sensors or something.

I've just fitted a HRC fuel pump to my classic, faffed around taking the back seats out only to then find out the fuel tank cover is in the boot on early cars, Doh! :o

Just about to get it up on axle stands to adjust the ride height as the rear is too low as it has a sort of negative rake going on which im sure isn't doing the handling any good. Been doing a bit of reading up on optimum ride heights and it seems to be generally for classics 335-345mm in the front and 340-345mm for the rear. Any one else know what ride height they run?#

After that it'll be a full set of braided lines and a full flush through of ATE fluid, just been reading on the correct bleeding order thanks to someone mentioning it on here! I'm still a bit confused though as i think we should be doing the NSF first as we've got RHD cars but i don't think it'll matter much aslong as it's done in a cross pattern.

I don't always get it right at the drag strip... some runs from when frozen nova and I tried to sneak a few runs in one day at Santa Pod back in February.

We queued for ages, the strip was damp and traction was awful. My usual 1.7 60fts were not happening and I was fed up after the 3rd run :(
