Yours will have STi 'pink' injectors but will need bigger ones to flow enough fuel for 400bhp.

If the car has PPP it will have had the Prodrive pump fitted which I think is 190lph. Chances are, it's been in for quite a few years and wouldn't hurt to replace it with a Sytec/Walbro 255lph pump instead.

I've done some searching in the past but haven't really found a one stop shop for reaching 400bhp, however it's where I'll be aiming for in the long term.

Aint mine already got the injectors and uprated fuel pump? I know it has a straight through 3" exhaust.

Only doing some Sunday boredom pondering.

If its been mapped fuel pump is a 50/50 some owners upgrade them some don't bother. Injectors are unlikely to have been replaced, stock STI 'Pink' 550cc injectors will flow enough for just shy of 380bhp on pump fuel roughly

I'm not 100% but I have a feeling my fuel pump has been upgraded. It's very loud when I turn the ignition on anyway, but it may fit in with the bhp printouts the car came with.

SC42 Turbo.

To make around 420BHP what supporting mods would you need?

I have a SC38 on mine. As Frozennova quite rightly states your injectors will be flowing maximum at 400bhp, may even be a bit lean if you go over 400bhp, i made 395 bhp with the standard pink injectors, just adding the injectors i went to 413 bhp, then the meth map. With good quality parts Subarus are very easy to get power from done correctly. Still on the TMIC aswell :p
Currently fastest 1/4 mile is 12.13 @ 113mph, so no slouch either :D

Currently running 436 bhp 385 torque, supporting mods :

RCM headers and up-pipe fully wrapped
3" Cobra non resonated exhaust
20% meth map
Mishimoto Induction
GGR cone airfilter CAI
750cc injectors

Ay nice one @ReAPeR101, thanks for the reply.

What do you think i would get with:

Normal headers (not actually sure if mine is standard or not lol, never looked)
3" straight through exhaust
K&N panel filter

Adding:

SC38
Bigger injectors

Also whats all this meth map about? Read a few posts where people mention it.

Probably see similar numbers to Reaper, so 410ish or 430-440 with meth

Meth map in short means you run Premium Unleaded mixed with 20% Methanol (I use meth in the MX5 and my fuelling routine is as simple as empty a 5l can of methanol into a jerry can, pull up at pump, add 5l can of meth to the tank then add 20l petrol)

That turns Vpower into 102 octane fuel which allows a more aggressive ignition map. Net result is a ~10% increase is power

Downsides are 5-10% reduction in fuel economy (You have to demand more fuel) , more hassle filling up and once mapped for it unless you have switchable maps then you must always stick to the same methanol mix

You also tend to get a lot more torque with meth as well from what i've seen so the performance increase is greater than the 20 or so HP figure suggests.

I did think about meth with my old widetrack but decided against it in the end as it does seem quite a faf and if you intend on going far away (say to a european track) you'd need to be super organised or have another non meth map to run.

Frozennova has hit the nail on the head with meth, thats exactly what i do, 20 litres of vpower mixed with 5 litres of meth, i have now managed to put in the right about of juice to get me to Santa pod and Shakespeare county to drag race and have about 1/4 tank left, i just ensure i fill up on the way home. Which gets me home.
My gains on meth were awesome, i gained 23bhp and 27 torque maximum, across the entire rev range it was from 20bhp and torque up to 30 bhp and torque, you really notice the gains, my car feels awesome, i love the low down torque, which is very similar to the stock vf35, i have 350 lb torque at 4k rpm and stays well over 350 lb torque until 6500 rpm

650cc or 750cc should easily get your close or just over 400bhp.

I would also price up a new clutch while you are at it, as mine started to slip when the turbo was put on and mapped, that was just 371bhp, exedy pink is what i went for, supposed to be good for around 450bhp.

I have also in the past had NOS set up ( Escort Cosworth not subaru ), only a 50 bhp shot, but WOW that was super awesome when that was activated :D

I've never dynod to compare the figures with and without meth on mine (Even with conservative timing) but the difference is instantly noticeable.

Thankfully faff is a reasonable minimum for me as I've got switchable maps so map 1 is setup with the same fuel table as meth but with 4 degrees of timing pulled in boost. Means I can happily fill with 93RON flick and switch and drive safely

I went straight on to mapped for meth on my old STi so nothing to compare to in that aspect, but I think my quarter mile times speak for themselves. More power everywhere over a car not running meth.

Loads of 12.2s with 360-370bhp on the VF35 and a single 12.1s.
Never got to run it down the strip at its final 406bhp though!

Kostas helped me massively when i was searching for my car ( 5 years ago ), plus helped with me with the mods including the methanol. Knows his beans

I have been searching for the elusive 11 sec 1/4 mile, but i think your old car would have blitzed that with 406bhp tbh :D Your car and your times were always a mini sort of benchmark for me.

If i dont get an 11 sec 1/4 when we go in September, Kostas you can have a go for me :);) Or i will have to take a few lessons from you on launching to try and get a low 1.7 or 1.6 60 ft :D

Aye, mine's an SL. Seats heat up proper quick and get really quite toasty! Shame they never gave it as an option on the STi. Sunroof has never been used since I bought the car, however.
