Who here owns a Subaru?

I'm kinda temped by this legacy spec b

Any thoughts? It seams a little expensive to me for a car of that age and mileage, but then looking further away, it does seam roughly in line with others I guess, apart from the odd few here and there. I've been looking at mondeos and saabs for a while, so that might have skewed my perception of price.

Errrrrrgh! I hate buying cars, I've been looking for months, I still change my mind every day about what I want, and I always want to wait for the perfect car at a fantastic price, which never really happens.

Well, that car sold within 3 days of being listed. I guess it wasn't overpriced as such, just your usual "trade tax"

I think my hearts set on a manual spec b now. saloon or wagon, I can deal with either. ebay, autotrader, gumtree and uklegacy pages set to twice daily f5

I generally read into Fully Forged as pistons, rods, gasket, studs, crank.
As far as you can go really before closed deck.

Waiting for receipts though to confirm it all :)

My last hatch ended up like this though, so a bit cautious this time... :p
yeah that didn't go too well last time.

Keep an eye on pistonheads as well. Also if you can find a jdm 2l turbo they are good as well.

Pistonheads added to f5 too (though honestly, it looks like the classified section died a while ago to me)

No doubt the 2.0 turbo is a fine (faster) machine, but I think this time I need 6 cylinders in my life :)

Wow serious piston ring failure there.

Fair enough, you can turbo a 6cly as well if you wanted :D that is the ultimate option

12.5k and you want the worst scooby of the lot? You not seen the 2.0 Forged JDM Hawk I just posted?

Some of the deals on Facebook are mental.

@Jumper118 cracking price.
Ik I'm just messing with ya.

Can't see any cruise control ;)

Tis a good price indeed though already dropped a grand off the asking price in the last month. Would've expected it to have flown out already.

Cus people don't want to fork out too much for a cheap thrill. This is how it's getting with many cars now.
idk people seem happy to pay £20k-60k+ for skyline gtr's and over gtst and gtt are stupid money at £10k-20k. I was saving for an R32 GTR not a WR1. the more i saved up the faster they were going up in price and now they are just mortgages on wheels

A friend has s red r32 gtr. He picked it up for £13k last year. It's in really good condition and he's spent a bit on it. He won't sell though, he's been a honda guy has a yellow ek9 etc nice guy too. I told him to come to a pod day but he's always working :/

Yeah downside of scoobs, seems only the lower end of scoobs sell quicker. The dearer better examples struggle to sell.

Why buy an STi when you can buy a sik WRX with big wing innit.

My original Calsonic rad decided it no longer wanted to hold coolant the other day so swapped it out for an ECP, EIS branded radiator yesterday. Not too expensive at around £70 but definitely doesn't fit as nice as the Calsonic. Bottom outlet was a fraction smaller meaning the hose just slipped on and off without any force. Tightened up the jubilee clip as much as I can and it's holding for now but I'll probably replace the clip with something a little more substantial to ensure it stays water tight.

I would have got something better and waited for delivery but the ZTs exhaust fell off the other week (both hangers rusted through ) so couldn't have the Scoob off the road as well. All of this within a week or so of me moving house too :o Stressed is not the word :(

Both cars fixed for now though. Scoob's MOT is up on the 27th so will have to get around to changing the brakes one evening next week.

On a slightly different topic, my old bugeye is now going rusty on the rear wheel arches. First bodyshop I approached doesn't want to get involved as they reckon it's too expensive for what can only ever be a temporary repair (rust always comes back). I've got another company to try, but if anyone knows a reputable company in the Mancs area, please let me know. I'd like to keep this car at least another year.

I'm not sure what panel availability would be like and it's only really an option if you REALLY want to keep it for a very long time, but have you though about replacing the full rear quarters?

Would certainly stop it coming back
