50k is nothing on the EJ20, WRX or STi.
EJ25, rebuild for sure. Made with cheese piston rings. All of them. Once forged/rebuilt they're alright for 450bhp though.

Yes bought new. I am not that concerned about the depreciation.. I don't intend to sell any time soon and if I have to sell then so be it. Risk with any car, but no doubt another new model will come out and help prices fall. But then again with the weakening pound, the new purchase cost may increase...

My VF35 was blocked off for a couple of years, then my VF43. Never fear, just do it and if it breaks rebuild better
