Who here owns a Subaru?

Prices are doing silly things at the moment, kind of makes me wish I had held on to mine. Some are saying £8-10k even for a non widetrack STi, so long as it has low mileage and is in good condition.

Main things I'd look for are the knocking rear suspension (can't avoid it really) - bad synchros in 4th, 5th & 6th gear, and then general things that you'd look for on any car.

Also you want to check for modifications, if they have been catered for with a remap and by who, what fuel it has been run on etc.

Simple cars really.

Very much wish I hadn't have sold it and just chucked it in storage actually!

The money I will have spare from savings after all the house expenditure will easily cover the money I got back from the Subaru... o well hindsight!

Prices are silly though you're right. Although I find the WRX prices more silly than the STi!

Forester is looking good.

I've done a gearbox swap on my dad's, did the clutch at the same time. Not that hard, but very time consuming as you'd expect.

Standard clutch would be fine really. I'd definitely get the flywheel done or lightened though. On the WRX it makes the car feel a lot nicer IMO.
