Who here owns a Subaru?

So, got my scoob back last week.

Turned out to be a burnt exhaust valve. Suspect dropped/loose guide but couldn't be 100% confirmed as the cause of the damage. Car was map checked last year so pretty confident that's not the problem, although I am tempted to get it checked again just to be sure. Head was overhauled with new everything and I paid for a new clutch whilst the gearbox was out. Not having a squeaky clutch fork is bliss, too :D

It's running better than it ever has under my ownership. From cold it's a marked difference - no more hesitation (which TBH I didn't see as anything other than normal at the time). It feels quicker on the open road, maybe because of the issue or could be placebo - it's been off the road since end of August and I've rarely driven between now and then.

Gave it a run to the RR day, even managed to have a quick chat with Kosta (nice meeting you @ScoobyDoo69 ) and it reminded me why I love it so much. Not sure whether to keep or sell her now. Making a concerted effort not to do short trips in it and when I do drive it, to warm it up fully.

Glad you've got it back and sorted. Also nice to meet you too, hopefully not for the last time either :)

Rybo, what a shame - "live mapping" is the exact same as he'll do on the dyno. Do pulls, do logs, adjustments, pulls, logs, adjustments etc. Just you'll be booting it on the road instead of the dyno.

When I first met him he road mapped mine, and I got him to set my launch control at 5500rpm. I asked if he minded me giving it a go as I proceeded to launch it out of a dual carriageway lay-by :D :D :D

Well... when mapped at RCM mine made 353bhp, but made 335bhp at TI at the weekend.

Looking at the graph it may have been pulling timing though, I really ought to have logged the runs!

I'll be looking at going the next step up on the current turbo in the new year.

5w40 Fuchs Titan Race Pro S here.

Was tempted to go 10w40 on my last oil change but I think the 10w40 only comes in Race Pro R which I don't think is as good. Do you use the Pro R Kosta?

I've used Pro R and Pro S. Both good oils I think :)

Out of interest, does anyone here use an air oil separator? One like this: https://www.rallysportdirect.com/part/air-oil-separators/grm-078006-grimmspeed-air-oil-separator

Just strikes me as quite a neat idea.

Yes I had an AOS on my old car, keep meaning to buy one for this car also. Great idea, easier than a catch can, but can make you think you've had a head gasket failure when the moisture and oil vapour create a yellow substance lol :)

Looking good, Phil! Springs should be next on your list though ;)

Car mapped :)

Launch control at 5.5k ready for Kosta side step. Didn't have antilag as he said it isn't real as the standard ECU cannot do it, so i didn't bother.

Launch control is all you need. I think you ought to swap that clutch before dropping it though hehe. Sounds like you're happy though, bring on 2018 - Santa Pod is going to be concrete now, so should make for better launches. Catch me with your 400bhp if you can ;)

@ScoobyDoo69, he is a massive fan of you.

That's nice to hear! Didn't think the guy who maps my cars could be a fan of me, it's normally the other way round :D Nice of him though, thanks for relaying.

Will kill me having to drive it like a daisy. Be like when Andy made me go 3mph all the way down to santapod, killer....

Yeah I've never done that...

Black WRX I had the clutch done and went straight to Santa Pod the same week! Several launches that day :D

Blue STi got launched from the day I bought it - when it had a clutch (didn't need one I just did it) - I booted it same day and launched it the next :D

Anyone got experience with wheel spacers? Have bought some springs for the car and I think the wheels are going to look a little lost. Wouldn't mind bringing them out 10-15mm.

Hubcentric is a must, it seems 10mm are replacement studs, 15mm are the kind that bolt to the hub and then wheel bolts to that.

You'd be surprised, you may not need the spacers, never ran any on my old car and was happy with how it looked. However, you're right hubcentric is a must.
