Who here owns a Subaru?

My daily drive is about 20 miles, so far i have achieved 22 - 26 mpg with some spirited driving LOL
I suppose your MPG is all about how much fun you are willing to have.

Test drive.

One thing i always get the seller to do, is put the vehicle in the top gear say 5th or 6th and from low revs floor it, normally tells me a few things about an engine or the fueling of the car. Probably does nothing LOL but for me i just like a car to accelerate from low revs. If it doesnt pull through, or their are odd noises, i normally wouldnt buy.
Any other weird noises IE gearbox noises and when the car is turning on full lock.

I have no idea if 2 mountain bikes will fit in the back LOL

I should have added, I have owned about 15 cars to date and was referring to anything specific to look out for on this model :)

The wife will be main driver with a couple of miles each way to work daily and maybe a trip into town once a month. I was hoping for high 20's/low 30's based upon this scenario on the 2.0 litre NA engine.

Never owned a 4x4 so a chance to tick another box for me on the odd ocassion I will use it.

With the estate you will have to fold the rear seats to fit the bikes in as the boot isn't really spacious when the seats are up.

The 2.0L N/A is a good engine but not very economical. I would get a blobeye and save some ££ if you do purchase it. Very tough cars and the 4x4 is excellent in the snow in my opinion. Not exactly fast and the running costs are not as high as the Turbo. If you care about MPG's you may as well get a diesel from another manufacturer as these do not return good MPG urban. On long distances they're not so bad.

replacing a Bora 130 Sport. simply cant utilise it these days effectively due to job change.

car I listed seemd a nice low miler with modernish kit we could keep for a good 3 years and not rack up massive miles.

I suggest you go test drive it. They are nice however boot space isn't large. If you will haul mountain bikes around and need an estate - Volvo. I'd suggest a E-Class Merc but I dislike any estate Merc after the W123 series. :p

it is my intention to test drive it, if dropping back seats means bikes keep wheels on that's all I need. 4WD is preferred for the odd dump of snow to keep everyone mobile, although I must admit this year has been pretty mild thus far.

I keep thinking about these cars a lot lately!!

im hoping to get one to replace my current car with (maybe next year though)

I was trying to find a website that tells you all the differences (UK versions and imports) from 2002 on

As requested by scoobydoo some time ago, had some time to upload some updates to the car. And my rolling road print outs.

Cobra 3" exhaust put on the car. Sounds like a subaru now and very loud LOL
Put the new gloss black mudflaps on which i personally think, look awesome.
And also added a gloss black front splitter which compliments the front of the vehicle no end.

Front splitter. Ill get a full front shot of it as this pic doesnt do the splitter justice.

Close up of the cobra exhaust. 5" tailpipe LOL

You can clearly see the gloss black mudflaps in this pic with the exhaust.

Is that the full replacement sump or a weld in plate? How much did that set you back?

I was looking at the cosworth sump baffle plate but couldn't really decide if it was worth it or not...

Does it have any extra oil capacity?

Less than the RCM price! I got a good price including fitting, but it's definitely not cheap.

Full replacement RCM sump. Standard capacity, but I have an oil cooler so I've got a fair bit of extra oil in there.

I wouldn't bother with the Cosworth item. Most view them as pretty useless.. I got this because I intend to go push the car on semi/full slicks. Apparently a full baffled sump or a dry sump is the only real solution!
