Who here owns a Subaru?

Who are you guys insured with? Been having a look at these again as there seems to be quite a selection within 150 miles or so of me but having a bit of difficulty finding decent quotes.

Admiral give me decent prices on a standard car at circa 500 but if I'm honest about the modifications (specifically the power increase) that I would realistically be looking for it jumps nearly £200 which just isn't on frankly.

Had a conversation with greenlight who initially gave a good quote at £500 including mods but then informed me their underwriters wouldn't take a policy as it's been circa 2 years since i've had a "perfomance" car. I've found this before with some of the specialist insurers as they all tend to use the same company.

Might end up being the case that if I do buy one it will just need to be standard for a year then modified - if i'm honest though the standard car leaves me pretty underwhelmed

Greenlight for me as they were the cheapest with all mods.

Was with admiral with just suspension mods but mods do add up quickly so i went to greenlight as i wanted to remap and mod more.

I'm with Adrian Flux with all mods declared, it's worth phoning Sky and Keith Michaels.

If you are not going to be honest about your mods then you might find your insurance is invalid.

My insurance company asked me to provide pictures of the sides, front, back, interior and engine bay and sing a declaration that I will inform them of any further changes or mods. I'm sure if my car is involved in an accident or claim they will be using the pictures to make sure that they are paying out on the car they agreed to insure.

The whole point is that I wouldn't have undeclared mods, however I'm not buying a modded car if it means paying a ridiculous 40% extra for a relatively low gain. I had a modded mr2 Turbo that cost only tens of pounds more to insure than a standard example. Given that would have been quicker and probably more likely to be stacked than a modded wrx I have a real problem with the increase.

I dropped Keith Michael's an email earlier but sky tend to have the same insurance panel as greenlight etc so will somehow think ill bin a wrx as I haven't owned anything over 180bhp for 2 years.

It leaves me with a bit of a pickle in general - the wrx isn't the only car i've been looking at but it does seem to be the one where i'll get the best choice and chance of finding a good one. Then again I don't know if I'd want to own a standard one for a year before being able to remap as tbh it's just a bit lacking for me - especially not when I could pick up a car that's already lightly tuned for near as makes no difference the same as a standard one.

As requested by scoobydoo some time ago, had some time to upload some updates to the car. And my rolling road print outs.

Cobra 3" exhaust put on the car. Sounds like a subaru now and very loud LOL
Put the new gloss black mudflaps on which i personally think, look awesome.
And also added a gloss black front splitter which compliments the front of the vehicle no end.

Front splitter. Ill get a full front shot of it as this pic doesnt do the splitter justice.

You have done to your car, exactly what I did. 3" cobra exhaust and a remap, and a front splitter. Did you fit a full decat Cobra system or a did you get the catted system? I went with the decat system.

Greenlight is the best Subaru insurer for my by far. Used them for the past 3 years. With both my Impreza's. No idea how good they are if you need to make a claim, but when I need anything sorting - like changing account details, they are amazingly quick. Replies to my emails within 2 hrs every time.

Quick q for the Scooby owners.

new Scoob about to join the family just wondering if the price was reasonable?

2006 56 plate 2.5 WRX prodrive edition with Cert and all associated parts present and correct 40k miles FSSH with first couple of services by prodrive themselves.

£6000 with years warranty and 6 months tax

Full decat ;) I had the Prodrive cell on the car as part of the PPP, but i wanted to go the full exhaust system.

Straight through centre pipe aswell.

That's similar to the Spec D. I guess look at the price of one of them and take 2-3k off.

They gave by far the best price but won't insure the car unless I've had it for a while as I've had the diseasel civic for nearly 2 years now and they want some "performance" car history in the last two years even though I can give them plenty of history prior to that. This is even with a boggo, standard wrx.

It will be a switch onto my current policy for the remaining few months of it it looks like then in July/August I'll have a look again but will probably be Admiral/Elephant for a year by the looks of things.

I've seen a few promising cars both standard and lightly modded which is good, will need to start going to see some cars once the civic goes next week.
