Who is going to get a Pascal Titan X ?

The people with the 1080 should be happy with it until the next gen. It's ridiculous to think they regret buying one. Idiotic in fact, but here we are with people admitting they want to get a Titan X even though they have a 1080.

I'm not and probably not going to bother with 1080ti either. These full chips always end up being pretty toasty and with titan x only having reference cooler that means noise and heat.

I'll probably wait for 1180 and change for that unless AMD vega turns out to be a cool running card with more performance. TBH a 1080 is more than enough for most things atm.

they are saying to wait for years and years. Only buy the cheapest stuff you can, never run anything on ultra ( hey who needs that ?) and wait because in 3 years AMD will release Vega ( which will more than likely cost about the same as a Titan now ).

This whole idea where you buy great hardware and actually enjoy it while others are waiting doesn't seem to be comprehensible by some.

Some of that logic is pretty good until the reliance of vega

I say buy the very best you can afford or justify paying when you need an upgrade, from either company, and then only upgrade again when you really need to, although it does mean a higher cost each time you purchase but with a longer gap between purchases.
It's nice to be able to run things on ultra at least each time you buy a new card

Im glad this is now on the Horizon, it means the 1080ti is just beyond that horizon, rather than the unknown far distance.

Blame AMD for having nothing to compete. Nvidia own this sphere of the market and can call the shots. People who buy these cards aren't going to lose sleep over what they paid as they can afford it. That's why we work hard so we have money for nice things! If you're going to bankrupt yourself to get one of these then yes you're an idiot and should get your priorities straightened out.

People coming into a Titan thread to just laugh at the buyers and claim they'll be full of regret are just salty and poor or crazy. :confused:

I spent more than the Titan X money on a rug for the floor for goodness sake!

Let folk enjoy their cards! There's something for everyone at every price range between both vendors. Why the negativity?

As for me personally? I'm a nutter who still uses ye olde high end CRT's so the lack of analogue on the 10 series has me excluded for now.

I'm slowly adjusting to the fact I need to go digital now so I'm holding on for the new Ti's then I'll just do my whole screen and system in one go. These Titan's are a good indicator of what I can expect from the later card.

I'm happy to see and hear all impressions of the new Titan here. Fair play to each and all who get on board!

running everything on a decent resolution on ultra settings is the way to game, that's why we pay so much for good stuff. 1080 is a sure buy and it will last for years. 1070 more than likely the same, just smaller numbers

. heck 1060 too!

According to D.P, Polaris had all its compute slashed as well.

Although Gregster did also state his 480 ate through video encoding faster than his 1080 as well. Seems that dedicated hardware for it is nice as well. I look forward to playing with that until the real Titan shows up.

But I won't be one of those pre-ordering an unknown quantity, I like to know what I'm buying first, so if it turns out to be not worth it I'll hang on and see if there's a Ti and how it fares.

Clearly this is a lot of money for a GPU - its at the top end for enthusiasts, and that's not even taking into account its an overpriced ti :rolleyes:

Will be interesting to see what they chop off the Ti to prevent it from beating the new TItan-X

Personally don't care what people spend on their GPU's just don't kid yourself that Nvidia are taking the **** with their Titan cards the same way luxury cars do with their prices

Affordability is relative to earnings and lifestyle. For some £1200 is a drop in the ocean. Some of my customers change their car every 12-18 months and lose a 5 figure sum every time. There is no shortage of people with that kind of money out there. I suspect a reasonable amount of people buying this card won't stop at one of them either so really they will be paying £2400 or £3600 for their graphics, then they'll watercool it with all the associated costs of that.

In fact the reality of the situation is Nvidia could price it at £2000 and it would still sell. A titan card has never been a value for money product and comparing it to a £200 GPU is madness as obviously that is nowhere near the same league or the same market.

Certainly its not compulsory to buy a Titan for £1200. A 1080 will do a fine job of playing games in most common resolutions at decent settings for £600. In fact a 1070 will also do the job if you don't mind setting a couple of options down a notch for £400. Most still run 1080p which still looks fantastic and a GTX 1060 will max most games for less than £300. Hardly "bleeding us from all holes".
