Golf clearly has a huge advantage - even in the 'comfort' rolling race where the M135i and S3 get a jump on it by shifting down quicker, it breezes back past them with relative ease.

Yeah, there's something odd going on. I'd love to see the Dyno figures for those cars as I find it very hard to believe the golf only has a 20bhp advantage!

3.9 secs to 60 is quick it’s making a huge gain in that time compared to the MK7.5 R that was somewhere around 4.4 secs.
With everyone talking about the performance I’m sure someone will rolling road a press car.
The boost gauge on the run was hitting 2.3 bar would be good to compare to a customer car.

After a couple of conversations they are putting this right next week. You are right now I know it’s there it certainly does bug me to put it politely!

Two questions if I may.
Firslty what are peoples experiences with the dimming centre mirror on the 7.5? Mines very poor compared to my last car - I'm not convinced it's working at all. I'm not being daft and have it turned off or something am I?
Secondly what is the official app for VW service history called? There are hundreds on the app store with slightly different names and none of them stand out as the obvious one.

What's going on with the steering wheel badge on the photo above?
Mine works fine, don't think there's an option to switch it off, not as far as I could find anyway.
I have a feeling VW killed the servicing app. Sure last time I logged onto it I got a message saying it was no longer supported which I thought was a bit strange. Maybe someone else can confirm?
Thanks. Strange indeed! The VW dealer told me that the app is where all the info is stored these days and therefore there is no physical copy. He printed me out a copy of the full history on request but I have no service book or anything going forward. Not ideal...

Did you ring? Curious as to what they said as mine has FSH with VW but all I have is an invoice although I assume they will hold an official record on their database.
With my previous car I called Audi and they sent me over a PDF Document which proved it’s service history.
It's just the way it is at that angle. Designed to not reflect into the driver's eyes, maybe...?

Yes I did - they recommended one app, then another, then when I had difficulty setting it up they finally told me that they don't use the app so can't help me further. Altogether just a chaotic waste of my time really.
They did however agree to send me a traditional service book and I already have a hard copy of the service history printed out (I assume this is only possible if the car has a full VW service history up to that point) so I'll just be using that going forward.

I feel like depending who you speak to these days you get different answers, the amount of times I’ve called separate branches asking the same question just to get the right answer more than once is ridiculous.
I’ll give them a ring to see if I can get something similar sent out.
Also - How is your car during start up? I noticed it a little lazy to start up sometimes, nothing untoward but compared to my A3 it just seemed to try a little harder but this morning it cranked for a good couple of seconds but has since started instantly.
I have read online and it does seem a thing that some are lazy to start and it’s down to the Variable Valve Timing Module or Fuel Pressure etc.. seems a headache and my bad luck continues but in the meantime I’ll continue to monitor and get some video evidence if it continues to do it as I am warrantied up thankfully.
VW have missed a trick here, those seats are looking bland should be matching your pyjamas , please send to VW for the next revision

Sorry to hear that, my start ups have been fine so far. A little less effortless than I'm used to coming from a petrol, but so far consistent. I have noticed some inconsistency with the start-stop function however. I'm not sure if the car is smarter than I realise or if it just simply doesn't work on occassion. I haven't noticed a pattern yet.
I ended up calling VW reference the mirrors as only one of them was folding in and down to assist with reversing. Turns out only the left one is supposed to move, and that's only if you have L selected. Just a point to note if you ever wonder yourself!

Just depends how much you care about the extra cost really. I've never owned a GTI but I am averaging 48.8mpg in the GTD - granted that's mostly motorway driving with the odd thrill here and there, but then I knew it would be when I bought the car.
You won't get anywhere near that in a GTI, but for good reason... Beyond that it's personal preference but you'll be getting a good car either way.
