Who owns a Mondeo ST220 / ST TDCI?

Heated seats are so lovely at this time of year. I liked them so much I got under-sheet heating for my bed :)

And people call me old :D ;) I love my heated seats but they take a little while to warm up. I love the heated screen more.

Yes Rybo I got caught speeding. This is the second time in fact. :p

As far as I know, there's no real advantage to using anything other than regular unleaded, the engines and ECUs aren't advanced enough to benefit.

Wobble through the wheel at speed will either be wheel balancing or worn bushes somewhere.

I have managed to lose two headlamp washer covers somehow. I've concluded that they're quite fragile and the first time it probably got knocked loose when the car was being recovered and the second time, on my driveway, was probably when a cat was climbing on it or something.

Pics of car please Philz0r. ST220s are so rare, whenever I see what looks like one, I look at the rear and then think "oh, diesel, pah". Saw a lovely dark blue estate with red leather yesterday though.

Also howard, what is the facelift air box mod if you dont mind me asking?.

When Ford facelifted the car and added the 6-speed gearbox, they removed the second air feed into the airbox because the gearbox got in the way. In typical cost-cutting fashion, they didn't re-design the airbox to eradicate the second inlet, so there's a hole in the bottom of the airbox on the left hand side, about 3 inches long, which sucks in air from the middle of the engine bay. Adding some piping to this which routes round to a "colder" area of the engine bay, i.e. in front of the nearside headlamp, can help with induction temperatures and heat soak.

I should add some "wiki" posts to the first post of this thread with common info and such :p

The camber isn't adjustable, only the toe.

The best things to do in terms of track prep are make sure you've got GOOD brake pads and the oil is TOPPED UP. These engines don't like to be starved of oil especially at high-G cornering.

Take the reverse switch off the gearbox (it's on the top, reachable from the engine bay AFAIK) and give it a clean, see if it helps.

I decided that double-DIN was too much faff and that I couldn't be sure it'd fit for the reasons mentioned already; there were one or two documented "installs" on other forums but I don't think these were ST220s with the Sony 6CD unit. A couple of others I saw didn't look like they fitted properly anyway and generally looked crap.

The dashboard slopes down quite a lot inside the aperture into which the stereo fits, below the climate control unit and I'm not sure a large double-DIN unit would fit without having to seriously bodge something or have it sloping upward and looking a bit rubbish.

I have the Connects2 adapter (I think) - works fine, you buy the car adaptor and then the flylead that is applicable to your aftermarket head unit.

I'm curious as to how far other people's boots (hatchback) open when you press the button - mine doesn't make any effort to open at all, it just sits on the latch, and the boot is quite stiff to open and the struts don't really hold it up if it's anything other than fully open.

So I'm going to replace the gas struts but I'm wondering how much of an improvement there'll be in how far it opens on its own without doing the "spring mod"?

http://www.fordwiki.co.uk/index.php?title=Talk:How_To here's the instructions for the mod - I'm not really that fussed about it opening all the way, I just wondered what it should be like with "good" struts; I think mine are probably past their best - if I open it less than half way it'll drop back down again, and if I open it more than half way it'll rise very, very slowly. It's a heavy old tailgate I suppose.
