500 miles a week and the business is paying? Great, even better! Each time I drive for work I profit quite nicely with the 45p per mile
If I was in your situation I'd get a nice 2.0 petrol Ghia X or something.
I don't get 45p a mile. I would get 25p for an ST220, and 18p for an ST TDCI or a 2.0 Petrol.

18p a mile in a 2 litre mondeo would have you break even I think. Without worrying about the bills of a diesel.

Seems like it is near impossible to decat the ST220 without dropping the engine? Some people say they have cut the inners of the cat out and welded it back up.

I want the rasp of the exhaust to be a bit louder and longer. Looking around though, it seems more hassle than it is worth de-catting it.

It is. Pointless IMHO unless you're running a raw stripped out track car and must extract every last horsepower.
