Who with a 8800 series is getting R600?

why?

Why should I?

MY mate is into cars...His old car was fine so why buy another?
I
we all have different interests.

And anyway...

why is everyone so concerned were I put my income?

Its my business I work hard enough to spend money on what a damn well like.

AGREED!!!

I love easyrider upgrading all the time, when he upgrades he tells us the merits and then we can come to our own conclusion whether to upgrade or not.

I personally would not go from 7900gtx to x1900xtx, which to me is like going from 8800gtx to R600. I would never do that, not even look into it, from my experience top end by both companies is similar.

BUT if easyrider upgrades and starts a thread or posts saying his min frames in games like R6 Vegas has doubled then I would consider and look into to:D

I like easyrider testing the waters, when he got his 8800gtx and began posting saying it was twice as fast as current top gen, I thought going to get me one of those. I upgraded from x1900xtx to 8800gtx and I do not regret it one bit, this card is twice as fast and games are far smoother so money well spent.

Can't beat the Graphics Cards section banter. :p

Its like a war where the shields don't get damaged and there is an endless supply of ammunition, till the whole are gets nuked :D

LOL I love your posts too (the oil rig pic a while back still makes me laugh)

I think the the Graphics Cards section is actually really light hearted TBH. You are far more likely be ruffle some sensitive peoples feathers by not having the same opinion with someone in speakers corner or god forbid say 'bf2 is an easy game to play' in pc games:D

Its not always about money, its also about common sense, needs and desires. Many here could afford a GTX/r600 but choose not to buy one ;).

Many here can afford sports cars but choose not to buy one.
Many here choose to rent SKY HD at £53 a month!

Others get flamed for having a gfx card for 4 months selling it and spending a poxy 150 odd quid upgrading,

Which would give me a damn sight more pleasure than sitting in front of my widescreen watching american sitcoms and shows like lost! :D

Right, so anyone who buys an 8800GTX or other high-end card has no common sense? Do wealthy people who buy expensive, sexy sports cars have no common sense? People who buy the more expensive fashion labels? No, it's all down to personal taste.

Just give it a rest and stop generalising so much, it really is very silly and just a tad petty... it's sad to criticise others for how they choose to spend their own money. For all you know easyrider might be a pretty wealthy guy with loads of disposable income... in which case let him spend it how the hell he wants.

No-ones saying it makes the most sense, but it's no-ones place to make "holier-than-thou" judgements, though of course I suppose you have to accept them as a part of life on this forum. I can't believe i'm fighting easys corner here, but in this case there's a lot of so-called smart people being very, very silly. If you can't afford it or don't want to spend that kind of cash then good for you... but it certainly doesn't give you some zen-like common sense or intelligence, far from it.

Sad how these types of threads turn from a discussion on hardware we love, to criticising others on how they spend their money. It's supposed to be an enthusiasts hardware forum... :(

Please take the time to read my posts again before launching yourself into a tantrum. I said common sense, NEEDS AND DESIRES. You may also want to look at my sig - I have an 8800GTX, bought on the day of release, hardly grounds for criticising easy when I too have followed the same upgrade path! Was this the common sense route HELL NO! My previous post was directed to the fella who suggested that the x1900 guys were jealous and could not afford to upgrade.

My post was kind of directed at everyone in general who was criticising... I just happened to quote you. Apologies for any grave offence it may have caused you. Chill winston... ;)

*sniffle* ok... though if you touch my bum it's over. :D

I generally keep my cards for ages, unless they blow up (my 6600 GT :( ). I doubt I'll upgrade to the R600, just because I'm a bit of an NVidia fan.

Can totally understand why others want to, so lets keep the preaching about what people spend their money on to a minimum, unless of course it's so silly it's funny, in which case more please :D

I started reading this thread thinking that upgrading to the latest hardware is a futile exercise, but having read all of it, your "£75 per month upgrade plan" is really starting to make me think...

ARRRGH GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!! NOTHING WRONG WITH AN X800!!
