Who's the most talentless artist

Anyone who doesn't write their own content and doesn't have that great of a singing voice.

Example:
Cheryl Cole is talentless because she doesn't write her own music, she can sing - but not very well.

Leona Lewis is talented because she does have a very good voice, even though she doesn't write her own music.

A lot of people in here are just taking a genre they don't listen to or like and saying any artist under that genre is talentless.

Amy Winehouse, or should that be ****house!

If one more person tells me how great "her song" Valerie is I will swing for them, IT'S NOT HER BLOODY SONG! and the Zutons version is 100 times better!!!

Reminds me of when All Saints (more talentless people) did a version of Under the Bridge, the amount of people who then heard the original Chilli Peppers version and said to me "Why have they ripped off the All Saints song?", WTH..GRAHHHHHHHH!!!!

As has been mentioned several times earlier in this thread, people tend to confuse "who has no talent?" with "who's music don't I like?" or even "who's personality don't I like?".

I'm certainly of the school that real talent is to be able to write a decent tune with meaningful lyrics, and (although not exclusively) the ablility to play/sings helps. I also prefer to "like" their personality/views/image, but again this is not essential.

I would certainly place anyone who displays all of these qualities to be supremely talented - whether I like the end result or not - I would perhaps include artists as diverse as John Lennon/U2/Metallica/Stevie Wonder/BobMarley etc.

It's obviously ludicrous to describe Madonna as untalented - I don't particularly care for her music but she is certainly a competant(but not stellar) singer, musician, dancer and lyricist. Simialarly you can't say the same about Metallica/Radiohead/Coldplay or any other popular but "marmite" band.

I find it more difficult with artist who can both write and sing/play butI find their personality distasteful. Amy Winehouse is the perfect example - again you can't realistically say she isn't tatented, but she has such an obhorrent persona that I can't get past that. (Pete Doherty is that same). But again I couldn't in clear conscience say they have no talent.

Similarly someone who doesn't write their own stuff, but performs someone else's stuff well, is certainly not as talented as the above group but being able to sing is a talent in itself. Thus again I couldn't say that someone like Cheryl Cole doesn't have any talent.

What I really can't get my head around is the Dappys/Kenzies of the world and all the other "rap collectives" - a really can't see any talent there.

Now that is terribly ignorant.

But they did do a better version than the massively overrated RHCP.

You really do talk some right poo sometimes Mr Poole.

Now that is a trolling comment if I ever saw one.

There is not one song by RHCP that I like.
They are the most overrated band EVER and I reckon anybody could do better versions of their songs.
That's not trolling, that's how I feel about them.
They do have talent though.

Okay, that may be how you feel and as you know, you are entitled to that, but your blind dislike for the band is really colouring your opinion whenever they are mentioned.

A few points:

1. The All-Saints cover is horrific by any stretch of the imagination, even if you factor in your dislike for RHCP.
2. Under the Bridge is an absolutely beautiful song (in my own opinion) and certainly not deserving of your vitriol.
3. I strongly disagree with you that they are over-rated. They are one of the few bands that I can always listen to and enjoy time and time again. Equally, they are the best band I have ever been fortunate to see live and I'm a very fickle person when I choose to be.
4. Listening to their older music (which I'm aware that some people prefer whereas I'm slighly opposite in that I only like some of their earlier music: e.g. Fight Like A Brave) you can really hear them mature towards present day. Their last album Stadium Arcadium was very consistent and has some gorgeous stand-alone tracks such as Snow (Hey Oh), Hard To Concentrate, and Tell Me Baby, etc.

They are not talentless (which you've already conceeded) and they most certainly are not over-rated. Radiohead in my opinion however, are over-rated. They're brimming with talent but don't seem to quite know what to do with it. Again, neither truly deserve to be mentioned in this thread.
