DPD are the gold standard mainly for the detailed live tracking so I know pretty much what exact time they will be at my door, which has been extremely handy on quite a few occasions. RM are also very good here and I've got on great with all the postie's we've had.

I just had a very large canvas print delivered by Yodel and was pleasantly surprised at how good their live tracking has become. Similar to DPD with telling you where in the queue you are and where the van is.

Can’t you just stop the bloke when you see the van pull up and let him know? It’s generally the same driver doing the route around here most days. I’m pretty sure you can contact the driver as well with delivery instructions from the app can’t you?
When I'm on the top floor of a 6 story building not really.

I tried moving the dot for my postcode to the front side of the building on google maps and apple maps hoping it would help but seems it doesn't :/

Only amazon seem to bother to find the intercom at the front entrance. there's a parking bay directly outside the door for deliveries as well since it's on a main street.
they literally must be driving past that space to get around the back in the first place.

I'm pretty sure none of the drivers read delivery instructions. only one driver has ever phoned me to say he doesn't know where to go and that was some firm I've never heard of before

I think the reality is their route is too time managed and they get constant warnings no doubt about "falling behind", see it's a delivery to an apartment block and don't wish to spend the 3-5 minutes it might take to deliver.

I bet they get about 30-60seconds per delivery

Amazon this week seem to be trialling some sort of "drop it and run" delivery system.

Twice now have had an email to say the item has been delivered - no knock or ring of the bell and both times the parcel has been left round the side of the house rather than at the door.

Weird.

DPD have refused to deliver a parcel now because the driver does not want to drive through some gates, so he took a photo of across the road acting stupid like he could not find the house.
Said to leave in a safe space today and I have received the same photo.

How stupid and lazy you got to be?

Most of them are crap, the best experience I have had is with UPS, you pay more yes, but never had a problem with them. DPD have smashed my OC orders before, refused to compensate or take blame and much more, before today where I have a driver purely refusing to deliver.

DPD are brilliant where I live. Always on time, no delays, follow instructions if I'm out, don't leave stuff in public view.

UPS are the worst, closely followed by DHL.

Currently have a UPS package 4 days late, somewhere in Germany. Every day the tracking says its due tomorrow.

Just a heads up but Yodel are up a creek without a paddle as they cannot get drivers.

I have been waiting for a spray gun since 25th November and a previous delivery went to the wrong house last week!

If you can avoid using them stay well clear over this festive period.

Royal mail my favourite.
There pick up from my house, have 150 default insurance for tracked 48 and extremely rarely have an issue.
Where there is an issue they've always paid out.

Least favourite.. Dpd
Only on collection. Had quite a few issues with them. It's especially bad as I don't send often with them so the rate of issues is high. And now I never use them due to the multiple issues.

Not picking up on time.
Not paying out for damage due to so many exclusions
Leaving parcels in parcel shop for a week.

Never again dpd

See I'm opposite of this.

That is because everything depends on the area you live in. No real delivery firm is the best or the worst. You can have brilliantly run sorting hubs and drivers in one part of the country and absolutely terrible ones in another part of the country.

My best delivery driver is from Evri for example. He has been delivering to us for the past ten years. Yet they are considered one of the worst.

DPD and Evri for me. The Evri driver round my way is great. I've got a box outside my house for shoes etc. he puts it in there, rings the doorbell and runs, which suits me to a tea. Working from home I can't be bothered with having to step out of a meeting because someone as at the door. Evri are also always next day when I order from somewhere.

And I say this as someone who used to hate Evri, it's amazing what a good driver can do, so I always rate him.

Yeah I know.

With royal mail as I send stuff all over the country I think their network is pretty good.
They've been really good with covering damage to items. Once another package leaked onto my package and they covered it.

Vs dpd who damaged the outer box and inner box and wouldn't cover the damage. I only asked for a small fraction of the item to be covered. But they wouldn't.

They didn't come to the drop off point for a week. The post office staff were fuming as they had so many parcels just waiting.

They wouldn't accept a rejection of a parcel as (by chance) 2 parcels came together from different suppliers and they said it was 1 consignment so they couldn't reject both.

I've waited in for collection and it been missed "you weren't in"...yes I was.

So yeah I just gave up. The damage to the parcel was the last straw for me.

All other couriers are great or OK. It's just royal mail collecting from my house for free with 150 coverage is unbeatable

Sat here watching my evening plans go out the window, waiting for a UPS delivery that was supposed to be here.......an hour ago.

No doubt the estimated delivery date is about to change to tomorrow. Again.

**** UPS.

DPD are probably the most reliable as you get that almost to the minute delivery slot BUT my local Evri driver is great, she's never let us down and has even come back later in the afternoon if we missed the initial delivery

Just had a DPD “delivery” and the guy didn’t even knock on the door or ring the doorbell even though I’d left the kitchen light on (at the front of the house) to indicate that I was in. Luckily my neighbour brought it round about 15 minutes after the delivery guy left.

It always depends on your local driver, but DPD have never done me wrong. Same with DHL, Fedex and UPS when ordering large items from China. Royal Mail have been terrible lately for me as a seller and Evri I avoid at all costs.
