I’m still a yes, but only if I get invited via Geforce app scheme for a 5090 FE at 1859 like I did for the 4090. AIB with a wait? Not really interested. I wouldn’t feel special enough :D

I guess I’ll find out how special I am tomorrow!

Do you guys think the jump from 3080 to 5070ti would be worth it? The 5080 seems a big enough jump with almost double the performance but not sure the 5070ti woukd be worth it

Im thinking the 5070ti will be more of a stopgap until the 60 series

3080 to 5080 is about a 67% jump according to TPU. Not sure where this doubling is coming from. 5070ti will probably be 50% or thereabouts. A 4080 would be better if you can get one for less than a 5070ti.

Now I've had a look at reviews i've changed my vote from on the fence to no.

5090 is too expensive. It's an average generational performance increase with a massive price hike. At £1800 i'd probably have got one, but nearly £2000 is more than the rest of my system combined, and that's for a 7950X3D and all the kit for a custom loop. I just can't justify it. I'd love to know what sort of system Jenson had in mind when he said we all have $10000 command centres?

5080 is a 70 class card at 80 class pricing. They tried this last gen with the 4080 12GB, but at least they still had a proper 80 class card in the 16GB version. The 50 series doesn't have an 80 class card in my opinion. I doubt we'll even get a mid generation 5080 super. The 5080 is already using the full GB203 die and the 5090 is already a cut down GB202 die. Can't see them cutting it down further just to flll a gap in the product line up, unless they have a large number of defective dies.

Not interested in taking a risk on a used card so my 2 remaining options are both AMD with either a 7900XTX for under £700 or wait and see what the 9070XT can offer.

Yup, same here in switching to "no".

As someone who upgrades parts incrementally, I've realised that to get the best out of a 5090 I'd need a proper system refresh to get the most out of it - so can't justify such a huge amount of cash.

The nice feeling about pulling away from a "buy" decision is that we get to eat popcorn and watch the drama of people climbing over one another to buy one now :D

Was unsure whether it was worth waiting for the 50 series before upgrading a couple of PCs, some people recommended it but I'm glad I didn't wait, based on these cards I'm not feeling likthe 70/70ti would have been worth waiting for, but who knows!

No from me. The halo/90 cards can pretty much get away with whatever they want as far as performance/price goes (day 1 3090 owner) and I'm sure will sell out instantly but the 80 series has completely missed the mark, hope they sit on retailers shelfs for the next 2 years but we'll see how many folks bought into the nvidia marketing bs.

thats purely for raster in certain games, but ray tracing 4k it comes to about double the performance

yeah might need to try find a cheap 4080 or 4080 super in that case then

Had they named the 5080 a 5070Ti and gave it the price that is getting it would have done very well. But at £1000 (If you are lucky), no thanks nvidia.

The funny thing is, the 5080 is getting the sort of performance I was expecting the 5070ti to get. But I'm sure Jensen is right, the 5070 will be as fast as the 4090!
