Why are certain types of racism tolerated on here?

Jesus, this thread reminds me of being six years old at school and some kid telling the teacher he was called a "poo head" by another kid.

" Poo Head " :D

* Giggles like a six year old

I can't believe how retarded some people are on this forum.

"Chinkies is a perfectly acceptable term to call a Chinese meal" Eh what?

Sorry, you say we're no longer living in the 50s, well if so, then why aren't we capable of just saying Chinese? why the need to abbreviate it? Surely it's easier to say Chinese than chinkies? and in my eyes it is a derogatory term.

That's like saying "Japs" is a perfectly fine abbreviation for Japanese. Well you're wrong. It actually offends a lot of Japanese people if you refer to them as "Japs". Especially those born in America as it has a stigmata which leads back to World War 2 and American prisoner of war camps.

Should we call black people blackies then? is that acceptable? Hey why not revert back to negro? Is that easier to say?

We live in a modern society, surely we're all educated enough not to feel the need to abbreviate races? Oh but wait everyone talks text speak nowadays...

IMHO, if the current rate of PC continues in this country it will soon be racist to describe someone as black/white/Indian/Welsh/English and so on, then it will be sexist to use male/female, and then it will be folliclist to describe the colour of someone's hair (ie blond, brown, ginger) and it'll just keep going and going. I can just imagine giving the police a description of a criminal in 50 years time. "Yes officer, they were a person, they spoke in a regional dialect and were wearing blue items of clothing".

I try not to be racist/sexist/ageist, but at the same time I also try harder not to overcompensate like so many other people in this country do :( .

Its sad a lot of people are thinking like the PC brigade. CONTEXT  "You chink **** ****** die please" is racist. "coming to the chinky for some food" is not, its not meant in a aggressive manner, nor is it meant to insult.

Every Country is divided by a race of individuals, therefore I am racist for calling a German, German

Let me guess, you're a honky? Oops I mean *********? No wait... a charlie chalk? Sorry, caucasian?

If you are. Your comment is absolutely ********.

For those who are saying this and that is not offensive "in my eyes", well yeah, that's through a white mans eyes. Try putting on the other pair of shoes and see it in a different light.

Idiots.

I couldn't care less what nickname you refer to as, as long its not meant as an insult. TBH I wouldn't be arsed if it was meant as an insult, I have better things to worry about. I am saying that people should take comments in the context they where intended.

My Dad used to refer to us; his children, as "Jock ********"! I personally found it hilarious, as he had moved here from England over 30 years and has never had a desire to go back and that I don't technically have any Scottish bloodlines! So I don’t find the term racist, as for the vast majority of the time it’s meant to be taken light heartedly. Besides, it’s a clear example of inferiority complex ;).

It does grain on me when people use a certain term to denote the town where I’m from though :p!

What if he were black, or Japanese, or Indian, would that make his Chinese comment less ******** or is it only ******** if he's white? Believe it or not but other people besides us ********** can be racist ;) .

How come black people aren't insulted by being called 'black'? After all that's being racist is it not?

I don't really see how Pakki/Jap is a racist term, I sure don't get offended if someone calls me a Brit.

So it's perfectly acceptable to go round calling black people *******? even if you don't mean it in an offensive way... Yes I do know that sometimes, especially within a ghetto black people refer to each others as *******. But my question still stands. Would you go up to a black person and go "How's it going ******?" even though you meant it in a perfectly nice way.

"Jap" is racist in the view of Japanese born Americans, due to it's historical root.

Hemp Knight, what I meant is, if you haven't experienced racism yourself, you have no bearing on what is an offensive racist term and what isn't.
