Why did it have to end so soon :(

If they were filling up dvds with ps2+xbox games its idiotic to think it wont limit 360s games.

Filling them up with useless FMV.....

Most of which weren't 'filled'.

Didn't seem to struggle with Oblivion. Infact size never entered the equation, though the ability to get it on a Blu-Ray did.
You say you want uncompressed textures... then why compress the crap out of the textures in Resistance? A game that doesn't have any real high quality normal or specular mapping? Whilst it's not a bad looking game, it's not up there with Ghost Recon or Gears of War texture wise.

True...

You seem to be missing the point of texture compression, its designed to save memory bandwidth not disk space.

Please dont argue about blu-ray in my lovely GOW topic :(

Keep your moronic comments out of decent threads please.

Ohh no dude you didn't just say that did you.

tbh the arguement of media is a 'hot topic' at the moment, Devs are getting buy putting it onto 1 disc, and sure the option to stick it onto 2 DVD's is always there. But if the option is remove 500meg or even a gig or use a 2nd disc, i fear some games will suffer, due to cost factors. Sure it is feasible and cost effective to stick a game that is 15 gig onto 2 DVD's, but is it cost effective for a game that is 10gig?

Anyway that is way off topic.
GoW is sadly missing chapters, i think Krono started a really good thread about this a few months ago which raised interesting theories about it.
GoW wasn't a baddddd game. If the game wasn't as pretty then i think it owuld have got slated, but it does get a lot of Slack because it looks very good, especially in the early levels.

And that is why the PS3 will sell well..

I better clear this up, not because of it's 'POWA', but becuase gullible planks who just have zero understanding of technology and 100% believe anything that Sony Say..

I've only played it on the wuss difficulty - got it when I first got my 360 and never really pld FPS on a console so hard to get used to - but I agree it was a bit short. My flatmate and friend went through it on hardcore in one day.

The end seems to come very abruptly, one minute I was fighting on a train and the next saying 'oh that was it?'

I think it's a bit overhyped because of the graphics and the cover 'feature' - ok so you can hide behind shelter and pop out, it's not exactly a revolutionary idea.. it could have done with being a bit longer and perhaps better boss fights/ set pieces.

That said it's still a very good game, it's just not perfect! I think I preferred HL2, although again - it could have been longer. Maybe it's expecting too much

I liked the length of GoW, took me around 6 hours to finish i think. There's a only a select few games which keep me interested for more than 10 hours (zelda, oblivion to name a couple).

yup, great game, now if it just had the set pieces weapons etc, from,,, RFOM, it would have been the best,, could the graphics have taken priority over game content i wonder??

@ Blu-ray comment.... then explain why Bethesda had to write Oblivion twice to the Blu-ray disc because it only had a 2x read speed... several other developers did similair, and in fact, Resistance had fake data padding (shoved the important data to the outside regions of the disc and put useless information on the inner regions) to alleviate load times. I particularly remember Sony bigging it up so much then getting embarassed when some eager beaver pointed out that only 6gig or so was actual game data. And a lot of PS3 games need to be installed because blu-ray has mediocre read times.

Fanboys. lol

Did you get that quote from the idiots guide on how to chat out of your backside?

JUMPURS is correct I did start a GOW story/missing chapters thread a while back (and it scares me more than just a little that you remember that I started it)

IMO The Developers were going for the look and feel of the game, and the story was bolted on. There should have been at least 2 other chapters and one more big boss fight (at the end of chapter 4). But either due to time or testing feedback these bits were scrapped.

The pace and content of the story was fine up until Kim (I think it was kim) gets it in the back from RaaM After that things started to speed up and then all of a sudden we are fighting General RAAM on a train.

I'm sure it will all make sense once we play the other 2 games, read the books the comics watch the online machina and see the movie. ;)

Rubbish. You haven't got a clue.

Why? It it was Blu-Ray then it would have been a much bigger game.

Back on topic, yes it was a great game. Loved the graphics and loved playing co-op mode but yes, too short.

No it would have been a longer game and thats because we would have been waiting longer at the loading screens ;)

The content would have been the same.

It would have been just as long. Gears of War is only 6.43MB.

Wow, 4-5 floppys not bad. Is that using compression or just efficient coding? ;) :p

Heehee i am always watching you ;)

nah actually i thought it was an interesting read, and i know you kinda enjoyed GoW, and it stuck out at the time. :)

My money is on the fact that they needed to get it out the doors for Christmas (and to fight the PS3). Things are fine until a certain point then it all goes out the window.

Still a great game, kinda lost interest in the multiplayer due to me being absolutley useless at it.
