Why do I hate apple?

For 95% of users a Mac does more. Pro tools? I don't even know what that is.

Most users don't use programs like that. My Mac does everything my PC does (except the framerate on games) and also does a lot more.

It's a lot quieter (almost silent in fact), is more powerful, looks 10 times better, takes up less space, has better residual value, causes me less problems, came with more software, etc, etc.

I don't have a problem with Windows. I don't find it bad at all. I never had the OS crash but I did have to do fairly regular re-formats.

Edit: read about Pro Tools now. Tried Logic Pro?

Jet:

My PC is silent under water and performs 5 times faster than any mac in existence

But can you? I'm about to get a Macbook Pro which is a high-end performance Mac. It's going to have a Core2Duo processor, 4GB of RAM etc etc etc...

With a student discount it's going to cost £2k. Every time I've upgraded my PC it's been about £2k (admittedly I've not bought a high-end Laptop before but I assume it's going to be more expensive for the same spec Laptop than desktop).

So how much faster is the PC laptop that costs £2k going to be than my MBP? Especially with the software I'll be using, Adobe Creative suite, Logic 8 etc etc...

 2k on a laptop, I'd be afraid to take it out the house.

A mac a like having stabilizers on your bike, a PC will let your crash it because its gonna have a damn good go at whatever you ask of it. A mac would just make an irritating noise at you and not even try.
Having said that Iv'e only crashed this PC from the OS once and that was because a virus slipped through my checker.

I live with a proper Macboy who checks the apple gossip forums and gets hard about new apple products and tbh he is a nice guy when we aren't talking about his sodding powermac. When he does that its a different matter.

2K can buy you a laptop with a 20" 1680x1050 screen, 2GB ram (probably 4 now) 2x120GB hard drives and a fast gaming videocard.

in what way?

so?

not really compared to a modern tft and tower, it might save you like 10cm of space, but so what?

Sounds about on par then, of course the one I'm ordering will be 1920x1200 ok, it's only 17" but 20" is a bit overkill for carrying around, and I have a 24" desktop monitor...

I doubt there would be any real noticeable difference in performance for the majority of apps. I sure do like OSX though.

Is it just me ?

Mac just sends shivers up me.

even though I studied them at degree level for 3 yrs.

I still hate them.

A PC video editor does not have the same BS as a mac editor and I have met many.

Both get the the final goal. But the mac user tends to be more full of BS.

The Macs I use are TERRIBLE. They constantly take ages to load up stuff on Premiere and are even slower than the crap PC's we used at School.

I'd rather not pay for some overpriced Mac, I'd much rather get a PC with Quad Core, 8800GTX and 4GB Ram for under £1000, which is cheaper than the cheapest Mac which only has 1.8 Ghz Core2Duo and a X1300 ATi or something crap.

My PC hasn't crashed since April, which is the time I installed Vista for the first time. Eat that Apple, I forgot PC's are very bloated and unstable. ;)

exactly my point.

You're asking why you hate them?

Maybe you're stereotyping?

*shrug - I'm not a mac owner or user btw*

in what way?

I mean as well as the quiet, space saving, it is more powerful than my Windows PC and they were similarly priced.

so?

You can't tell me that isn't a major factor for the majority of consumers. It wouldn't be my only reason for choosing a computer but it's good to have. Just look in the case forum for proof that looks are a factor in many people's purchases.

My iMac takes up the about the same amount of space as a 20" TFT. It's a lot smaller than my tower. Again, it may not be a problem for you but not everyone has loads of space. For me it means I don't have a tower blocking my feet. Surely most PC users would be using Coolermaster stackers or something for their expandability and efficient cooling. Why is there a whole forum for SFF? Space can be important for people.

yeah i know, but it's not worth £££s.

£1400. Granted GPU isn't top end, but try and get a Apple of identical spec for £1400.

Final Cut Pro is a nice little program and can do broadcast quality stuff, which for the price of about 300 quid is bloody brilliant. But the Mac still can't compete with a PC, which can do anything you want and if you know how to do it you won't have any problems.

The top spec iMac is almost identical to badboy's example it's got a bigger HDD and it's a 24" all built in to a very tidy package. Oh sorry it's £59 more expensive.
