Why do people cheat in games?

Cheating in online games is disgusting. Anyone caught should be banned from playing any game online. All these cheating little tards do is ruin the game for everyone one else.

Cheating in single player games is fine... you are only trashing the game for yourself.

Some of them do it because they get a kick out of annoying others I think, theyre far too obvious with it sometimes to even be pretending theyre any good.

if you are told you can cheat and get x,y,z and no one will know and hey its not like you are the only cheater...everyone is doing it......so its ok.
 
As a kid I'd use cheats while playing the old Amiga. :)

Would having a map of FO4 locations be classed as cheating? I have used console commands to gather junk to build but mostly because a CBA hunting round for copper and gears. I did add 1000 shotgun shells which is "proper" cheating but didn't like not being ammo limited so never did it again.
 
I think people do it because winning takes effort, and effort is something they cannot be bothered to put in. If they can log only a few hours into a game and kill the regular players it'll make them feel superior. People play games for different reasons (win, teamplay, k/d). As for cheaters, cheating in pvp games will make themselves feel better to compensate for whatever is lacking in their life (including their gaming life).

Like who exactly? Send me a trust message if you know anyone, they're not welcome in the platoon if they do.

TBL was removed for precisely this reason.
 
I almost exclusively play BF3 these days and stick to the same handful of servers and every now and then there'll be a cheater. Most of the time it's really obvious, super high kills to extremely low deaths, or in some instances all their kills coming from something strange, had one whose kills were all attributed to the Ammo box...

Most of the time people just stop spawning or votekick and get rid of them but sometimes there's no admin on, in which case I just leave the server and report the player, can't be doing with playing with idiots.

I wont lie I had a look at some cheat sites and they're all subscription based. Seems to be around £15-20 a month, kinda shows its not really kids doing it its adults. Maybe its just me being a tight ******* but I couldn't imagine paying more for a game I've already bought.

From experience, super high KDs are not necessarily a sign of cheating. We have plenty of vehicle players who'll rack up insane scores by simply being defensive and having a good support team around them. Then there's the players who just use the dirtiest weapon they can find in the right situation. *cough* lockers shotgun users.

If I'd never been able to beat them in a one on one, I'd think you were right. But they're not perfect just very experienced. 1 tap had maxed out on the console before he maxed out on the PC. Nexus has played a lot, and is an intelligent player. Most of us get hackusations now and then, it doesn't make it true. The variable server performance, latency differences between players and packet loss can often lead to a situation that looks dodgy but isn't.

The brain's pleasure centres are not always stimulated by material rewards, some people do not care about physical/material reward and purely mental self absorbed reward. To some people a high score on a game very much a real reward.

What really gets up my nose are those who seem to get 100+ kills on an 800 ticket server with various vehicles and weapons that are not even part of the game , ie using the AA or Jets when they are not even in the game
 
The problem with people and hackusations though is that sometimes they will just call cheater simply for a player being better than them i.e. bf 4, apart from a few brief periods where there were very obvious cheaters (coincidentally always when the kids are of for school....), myself and the rest of the ocuk platoon/regulars who have 1000+ hours of gameplay on a **** load of servers have had little to no issues with actual cheaters but you still get people on here and other forums as well as in the game chat saying things like this game is plagued with cheaters, if that was really the case, myself and the other 8+ regulars would have also noticed the same and probably stopped playing bf 4 a long time ago. I found bf 3 to be much worse for cheaters. You just have to watch the likes of xfactor's video and see the hackusations he gets by low rank noobs who have no idea how to play the game.

For BF games.... 86JR (BF 4), lander (BC 2 and iirc BF 3) and iirc crinkleshoes (BF 3) are the only cheaters I know of on here.

Admittedly I haven't touched bf4 in a while but it was quite rare to see an obvious cheater(none even come to mind when thinking about it). Obviously there was suspect players but when you suck at a game everyone is suspect :D.

Although it was a badge of achievement to be labelled as a cheater :D. I know I strived for that honor.

Yeah Tonybot didn't make it out of V1 :D.

its not new many who used to play dayz on here majority had hacks/bf3/warz/bfbc2 its just a different game. few on here know chuckles.

In my defense my multihack bans were from a script someone automated to ban anyone with the word "fairfight" in their username :(. Took a while but I got the dev to remove it from public release :D.
