Why do people cheat in games?

:D trying to cover up there hacks by being so against them huh. It's a shame really too because some great games are just plagued into being terrible games because of these people.

GTA V Online/Diablo 3/Battlefield series/Cod series/Dayz&Dayz mod/Counter Strike series/World Of Warcraft/Elite dangerous/APB /ARK /Chivalry /Evolve /H1Z1 /WarZ /Insurgency/Killing floor 1&2/League of legends/Left 4 dead 2/Nether/Red Orchestra/Rust/Squad/Star wars battlefront/Team fortress/ War thunder/Payday 2

really, WarThunder - in all my time playing this (+2years every day almost) I have yet to meet a single confirmable cheater.

got to agree strongly with the WarZ one though - a game I actually loved but was destroyed by the hackers and the crooked devs - there were actual reports that the dev team were responsible for some of the cheats and were happily banning people so they would have to re-buy the game!

Thats an awesome but ****** business model :D.

I don't think the forum is the place to out rotten players, but a pm to any of the platoon leaders would be welcome.

Meh, I say name and shame them!

Don't encourage someone else to snitch, not everyone can be a UB Haz!

hahahaha :D Maybe DG can get promoted to UB and join haz in the snitch corner, as crispy posted before:

:D

In the likes of CSGO I don't understand it at all, going global within weeks using a wallhack or even 2d radar to see where players are is so obvious to any good player who has spent a while at the rank, your aim, movement and game knowledge stand out like a sore thumb even when they try to hide it somewhat.

The overwatch system is CSGO is it's saving grace because VAC does nothing. The only downside is with overwatch it can take months before people are eventually banned.

I browsed the CS:GO thread a few weeks ago and there was some guy who posted a video (can't remember who) and was getting one shot one kill through smoke amongst other things, now I know CS games have an extremely high skill ceiling and some players really are god like but that to me looked like pure BS.

personally I think the overwatch system is pointless. you need everyone to be in agreement - if they aren't it doesn't work. so if someone is cheating but one clown doing the overwatch thinks it's funny not to flag it then the system fails. I've watched too many overwatch videos of blatant cheaters and flag it only to have nothing happen. think of all the obvious ones I've only had one message back saying they had been banned.

I think as anti cheat systems and gaming mechanics improve there is less and less cheaters ( CSGO Rank 3 thing for example)

another pointless system, all it did was screw over casual players who don't play often - all of a sudden they couldn't get into comp games

I am yet to see a hacker in R6 Siege.
orly? look harder ;)

Thats an awesome but ****** business model :D.

it most definitely is the business model of the future! I got banned from WarZ for cheating apparently, argued black and blue with them to no avail - bought the game again (got it dirt cheap first time round so wasn't that put out at having to buy it again) about a day after I bought the game again they emailed to say there was a mistake on my original account and they had unbanned me!
quality!

Maybe they are botting because they are disabled and only have one arm. Spare a thought for them, lads.

That raises another point, would using such cheats be acceptable if the person need them more for an aids reason than trying to gain an advantage reason?

Although I'm trying to find a disability reason (that doesn't look right) as to why someone would need say a wallhack or no recoil macro etc

That is actually a poor way of judging whether someone is cheating but if it does happen within 5 mins then I would assume they are using an aimbot.

That person could have died 150 times but was revived 149 times, which is possible when running with a medic train clan in TDM. 247fairplay is a good site to check stats.

Oh I agree it's not a scientific way of telling but it can be very obvious at times, yes there' might be a well oiled set of clan players supporting but more often than not when spectating it's a lone player running about who instantly kills anyone that crosses his sights...

The best one I saw was a sniper on top of a building who's top half was jumping about from one direction to another instantly and racking up hundreds of kills in a matter of minutes, so obvious it was ridiculous!

one shot kills through smoke is actually relatively easy if you get your timings right - especially at lower levels where the guy chucking the smoke nade to cover a narrow door opening follows through as soon as the smoke appears - done a few of those myself (and been on the receiving end :()

that said the video you're talking about (if it's the same one I'm thinking on) did look a bit sus, but then he could have just gotten lucky. or he could have been posting the video in the off chance someone from the forums got it on overwatch and would give him the benefit of the doubt ;)

pre shooting areas is not dodgy. smoke or not. many decent players will do it instinctively.

most tards in games put smoke and then sit right in middle :p same with flash bangs just fire straight forward.

I'll happily report any cheaters I find in game. It's cheaters that kill a game and it's community.

The same goes for the moderation team on OcUK. It's the mods who keep this place from being a spam infested hole with no content of any relevance, stop personal disputes from spoiling threads and in general protect OcUK from unwanted litigation due to the actions of it's members.

This forum's survival is down to two things, good content and discussion from a large member base, and good moderation.

yup, number of times smoke appears and if you just pump a few rounds into the middle of it you'll get someone is comical. some folk seem to think being sat in smoke makes you invincible!

Calm down Mr Corporate - it was a joke. No need to go all "Policy" on our asses!

:D

Cheaters should definitely be named and shamed. If they are willing to cheat they should be willing to accept the consequences.

I cheated (kind of?) in a game because it was fun to annoy the hackers. You could charge up a powerful hit on an opponent and do a lot of damage. Now a guy figured out how to hook into the game... and then people took this and made cheats where you could run around spamming this powerhit very fast and with infinate charge, Godmode etc.
The same guy who figured out the hook then released an anti-hack (the one I used) where if you got hit multiple times in less than a second from the same person doing this hit it would do no damage to you. So I could let them run up to me trying to kill me with this attack, then flip them up into the air into a bottomless pit. :D
Fun times.

I agree - but there needs to be 100% certain proof. you can't just start throwing out hackusations willy nilly. could you imagine the mess if everyone started posting up who they 'thought' was cheating?!

a cheat to counter a cheat is still a cheat ;)

I used to be an Admin on a BF3 server and checking the pb screenshots of suspected cheaters was a 50/50 affair with some just being bloody good in truth. I am a terrible cheat myself though for single player games and have no problems doing it but online is a complete no no.
