Why do people cheat in games?

From experience, super high KDs are not necessarily a sign of cheating. We have plenty of vehicle players who'll rack up insane scores by simply being defensive and having a good support team around them. Then there's the players who just use the dirtiest weapon they can find in the right situation. *cough* lockers shotgun users.

Oh no I know that some people do rack up huge amounts of kills etc but when you're on infantry only TeamDM maps and someone has 150 kills to 1 death in the space of about 5 minutes and every time you encounter them you die instantly, it's pretty obvious.

I have only ever cheated in GTA Online as I just do not have enough time to level up my character enough to enjoy some of the level-gated content (tanks! :() I gave myself some RP then removed the mod files soon after (...actually I admittedly did mess around with vehicle spawning :D)

That's not really the same as flat-out cheating for having a higher advantage over other players though, aimbot etc. More for personally use and never used my new found powers to abuse other players and ruin their own personal enjoyment.

Cheating is really frustrating, but in some instances i can see why people (kiddies) do it.
BF for example; you may be a stella player but if you start late and are on a server where everyone has ranked up and have unlocked every weapon, you're doomed for a good while until you can get those weapons too. I end up abandoning those games, cos as an average FPS gamer i get totally owned by those with much better weaponry.

Also though, how many on here 'think' or actually accuse (in-game) others of cheating when their only proof is their great score?
I've done it loads, but then the other week i was standing behind my son watching him play Black Ops III online and he was almost untouchable. No cheats, just really good at the game, totally owning everyone else and i thought some of the other players were good. Had i been in that game i would have swore he was cheating!
Kids are born on these things nowadays and they are very good, without resorting to cheating.
Just my 2 penneth.

Only time i ever messed about on a game would be halo 2. There was a weird glitch where you could 'super jump' out of the maps and explore around. Was really interesting and we only did it fir fun in a private lobby.

But cheating, i guess it makes them feel big!

there is being good at a game and then being registered on multihack sites :D

I've checked the usual sites, all mine show are my ever growing list of server bans for being slightly vocal now and again.

If they show hacks of some form wouldn't FF and PB pick up on that, for BF4 anyway and ban that player?

I tried an aimbot at a friends house for CS 1.6 when I was a kid, played one round - got a string of head-shots & then turned it off.

I didn't get any satisfaction from the kills so didn't get any enjoyment out of it. Personally I can't see the appeal as it removes the most fun you can have in competitive gaming - outplaying your opponent.

Indeed, the funny thing is - in the same game I've been called a 'noob' & a hacker within an hour.

Some rounds go so well it looks dodgy & others I get one shot in the face doing something stupid. :D

what are these sites you check to see banned/reported players? would be interested to have a nosey through them

I would just like to add that I have been in the past reported for "suspected " cheating a few times...but I suspect thats just cos I p'ed someone off after taking their heli down multiple times , but ya know some of those heli boys blow their load too soon :)

BF4DB was a popular one, EULA (I think) was one, and fairfight/Punkbuster sites you used to be able to put in peoples names or player ID's and it would show their player profiles, bans and any hack reports etc. also for some reason Metabans has come to mind also.

Can't remember them all but BF4DB was one we used a fair bit.

no im not posting details so dont pm.

I really don't get why not  Surely, you would want to out the cheaters and let us know who to avoid/kick from platoon etc. If you have actual evidence to back up your claims then I really don't get the issue with telling us who....

Assuming these are actually cheaters, you are just letting them continue to play the games and ruin others experience and fooling the people that they play with.

Admittedly I haven't touched bf4 in a while but it was quite rare to see an obvious cheater(none even come to mind when thinking about it). Obviously there was suspect players but when you suck at a game everyone is suspect :D.

Although it was a badge of achievement to be labelled as a cheater :D. I know I strived for that honor.

Yeah Tonybot didn't make it out of V1 :D.

Yeah I haven't been on for a few months now so not sure if it is still the same or not, going by the regulars posts in the bf 4 thread, doesn't look like there are any severe issues though.

I would say I have encountered a handful of players, which I suspect for cheating i.e. wallhack, aimbot in my time of playing, nothing special stats wise, just how they played i.e. knowing where you are when there is no way they could have known since no commander, tugs, motion balls etc.

Although I have encountered a **** load of macro users in BF 3 and BF 4, thankfully their aim is still **** though :p

Yup, hackusations are the best, the amount of salt and pure rage in bf 4 was incredible!

Tony and his lame ass coding skills are no match for mine! :p :D

In the likes of CSGO I don't understand it at all, going global within weeks using a wallhack or even 2d radar to see where players are is so obvious to any good player who has spent a while at the rank, your aim, movement and game knowledge stand out like a sore thumb even when they try to hide it somewhat.

The overwatch system is CSGO is it's saving grace because VAC does nothing. The only downside is with overwatch it can take months before people are eventually banned.

That is actually a poor way of judging whether someone is cheating but if it does happen within 5 mins then I would assume they are using an aimbot.

That person could have died 150 times but was revived 149 times, which is possible when running with a medic train clan in TDM. 247fairplay is a good site to check stats.

tbh I think the last time I have seen some serious cheating going on is back in MW2 (those were the days demolition on derailed <3 ).

I think as anti cheat systems and gaming mechanics improve there is less and less cheaters ( CSGO Rank 3 thing for example) I am yet to see a hacker in R6 Siege.

In terms of reasoning I think people cheat to make others rage.

I don't think the forum is the place to out rotten players, but a pm to any of the platoon leaders would be welcome.
