Disabling all addons has no effect either?
In settings go to the language section.
Make it look like this. It could be some bug where it fails if you only have one language installed.

See edit above. Perhaps installing a second language triggers it into action. I do recall an issue like this in the past.

Maybe try removing the current version and installing base Firefox then add this stuff manually. Perhaps the localised versions are bugged in some way? Perhaps some idiot thought it would be cool to just rely on Windows spellchecker instead.

On this page (page 14), there seems to be a bit of a Chrome exodus happening. It's probably becoming a victim of its own success and people are making the switch. I had to use it at work as per IT policy for a few years, plus IE as the legacy browser. NHS ftw... not. Then in mid/late 2022, both Chrome and IE got banned and updated IT policy was to use Edge instead. Edge is in fact actually ok and does a lot of the things that modern browsers do that IE never did, or if IE did, it was like 5-10 years late.
If I'm recommending a browser that isn't Chrome and isn't Firefox either, then I echo Brave from posters up-thread
I use Firefox portable (from portableapps.com), running the same instance of Firefox on 1 desktop and 2 laptops, plus a separate instance on my Android mobile, and they all sync fine. The only issue I get is that I sometimes I have to re-log into Gmail, Amazon and WhatsApp web because it thinks that I'm another user.
