Why you SHOULD be using Firefox

Going back to the core topic title - why we should use FF?

Late 90s internet was mainly Netscape or IE. AOL had browser, email and chat all inside of 1 program. Opera was miles ahead with tabbed browsing but limited to shareware if you didn't pay. IE had the OS integration and I enjoyed Active Desktop (which most people hated) but I didn't like IE as a browser. So Netscape was my go-to from 1998 to 2002.

Netscape open-sourced itself to Mozilla in 2002 and later Firefox. Tabbed browsing, pop-up blocker, transparent PNG support and W3C compliance off the bat. IE was now 5 years behind. Chrome came along, which I thought it was ok but I find the remote desktop feature useful. Edge replaced IE and while finally a decent browser from Microsoft, I felt it was too little too late. Brave is a 'clean' browser which I use for caskback tracking. Also, almost every browser have surrendered themselves to Google's Chromium engine including Edge and Brave. Firefox has stood its ground and still uses their Gecko engine.

Full time browser is still Firefox though and technically the same browser for me since 1998. Open any code I made using Netscape Composer, and it carried the Mozilla name back then too.

Code:
<!doctype html public "-//w3c//dtd html 4.0 transitional//en">
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
<meta name="GENERATOR" content="Mozilla/4.51 [en] (Win95; I) [Netscape]">

i remember loving and using SRware iron which was chrome based, then used chrome for a long time made the switch over to FF , it just seems snappier of that makes sense ?

Has anybody else noticed a massive spike in memory usage with v159? With just these forums open in Firefox, it is using just over 950 MB of RAM. I'm quite sure it was only maybe about half that before, so why the increase?

Exception translations, all AI is disabled and blocked. Disabling uBlock Origin reduces memory usage significantly, but means my protection against ads, trackers, etc is heavily reduced.

Even with uBlock Origin enabled in previous versions, memory usage was never this high.
