Wii on Component

DVI-D is digital only so analog signals won't work through it.

DVI-I handles analog and digital so is VGA (analog) capable.

All graphics cards have DVI-I outputs, most displays have DVI-D.

Many thanks, I never realised the subtle difference between the two!

Anyway, I'm going to research the D-sub route to see if my tv/monitor can handle it and if I can find a cable like this one:

With a bit of luck, the D-sub will double up as a VGA and component input.

Thnaks again.

Monitor/TV spec. isn't that clear whether it can handle Component through the VGA input connector. Guess I'll just need to try it and see:)

LG M203WA TV/monitor Spec:
Video Signal
Max. Resolution D-Sub : 1680 X 1050 @60 Hz
DVI-D : 1680 X 1050 @60 Hz
Recommended Resolution D-Sub : WXGA+ 1680 X 1050 @60 Hz
DVI-D : WXGA+ 1680 X 1050 @60 Hz
Horizontal Frequency D-Sub : 30 - 83 kHz
DVI-D : 30 - 83 kHz
Vertical Frequency 55 - 75 Hz
Synchronization Type Separate/Composite/SOG (Sync On Green)/Digital

Input connector
15-pin D-Sub type, DVI-D (digital), S-Video,
Composite video, Scart, TV

Well that sucks !!

Just bought an official component cable and exactly same problem !!!

Suppose it is either the Wii or TV, both which is a PITA !!

well just tested it on my sister's LCD and works fine :(

must mean my LCD doesn't work !!! Any ideas ??? Contact LG or something ?

Contact LG?

You'd have more chance contacting Saddam Hussein!

Their online CS contact form currently has no submit button...

Argh unlucky snow munki that's bad news. It looks like your TV then. Have you tried the service menu?

Buttons are on the right side of the TV. To get into the service menu you hold menu on the TV and menu on the remote at the same time.

Be very careful in there though you can mess your settings up bad, write down any setting before changing incase you need to change it back.

Im using a HDTV, and composite looked fine.
Went to Component yesterday, changed the settings in the menus, and it looks no better imo.
The only difference i can see is more aliaising in games.

most odd, how can you not see the difference between an interlaced signal compared to a progressive signal on an HDTV. Either you have incorrect settings on your console, or you are blind!

Because there is little to no difference at all. Simple as.

Actually depending on the TV there's a huge difference. Crap telly means you'll likely not see much improvement.

I got one today from virgin got the blaze one tho which i assume is as good as offical  TBH never seen one before lol so i nabbed it right away :D

I saw quite a marked difference going from AV to RGB scart, going to Component must be a further improvement

I love how people state opinions as facts, especially one as bold and blatantly false as that.

As said on poor TVs there is little difference but on decent set the component signal is far superior.

How did you manage this?

I have bought a Wii component cable, but have no component input on my TV/ monitor - Doh!

I was hoping there was an adaptor to let me connect Component to VGA (D-sub) or to the Scart socket.

Cheers [J]

AGP? As in Accelerated Graphics Port, the brown slot on your motherboard for graphics cards?

Do you mean VGA?
