Wildstar New MMO (NCSoft and Carbine Studios)

Looking forward to playing this :)

Class customisation via improving actions and AMPs system, additional challenges whilst questing, temporary buffs thru-out the world, additional path quests/challenges, buff rewards for great playing/combos, mobs get damage if they're in the weapon hit zone, no tab targeting, upgradable housing, war plots, world events, different paths thru raids/dungeons, interactive environmental hazards, gravity changes in different places etc.

Choose different paths for alts and get a slightly different play experience. A long with the same questing, dungeons and end game raiding.

And thats just what we know. Looking forward to seeing more :)

The Immortals will be changing faction allegiance in Wildstar from Dominion to Exiles.
Post below from our site

Hi guys

Some of us have been playing beta, and the thing is ... Well ... We just really love playing the exiles so much more than the dominion! In fact, we prefer it so much that we'd like to change our allegiance to the exiles when the game launches next year.

I know that some of you may have joined us because we were planning on being a dominion guild, and I am sorry to disappoint, but better now than when the game actually starts.

We had an officers meeting to discuss it and they were all in agreement. We hope you'll continue to stick with us, but if not, watch out in PvP cause we will be coming to getcha!

In Beta.

It's ok. It's a MMO. The art style is terrible and the combat doesn't feel as good as I'd hoped... Although it certainly is better than select target, autoattack.

Will dig into it a little further, but so far only marginally impressed.

Unfortunately I have to agree, whilst I think the game looks brilliant, its not immersing and I think that's a lot to do with the art style (few others have agreed with me).

Its not all bad I liked a lot of the game, but just not sure, and definitely preferred the Exiles to Dominion, the NPC are far funnier, and more engaging where the Dominion are all for the emperor for the emperor your a slave for the emperor, the maps look better, the exile ships/machinery have more character.

Think maybe the Dominion have slightly better toons (maybe), but the artwork you see and how it actually is don't match I.E as a Chau, there were humans smaller than me?
The Hover-boards are great, though would have being nice were they not one size fits all :(.

Any details of an open beta for this ? hopefully get to try it before release as need something to tide me over until Blade & Soul.

The game is another very solo-able game (beat the level 8 group boss when I was level 7).

I take it you haven't played in previous betas, because TTK was much higher and it has been lowered drastically this beta, too much so in my opinion. For example I can gather up about 10 mobs on my stalker and just aoe them all down with no worry of dying at level 3. In previous betas I was lucky if I could take on more than 2 and just survive at level 10 nevermind level 3, add to the fact that this beta the stats on the gear that are given from quests are actually suited to your char instead of "make it yourself gear" that we had last beta (which gave the game a much steeper learning curve). I have only got to level 10 (for the hover board) because I do not want to ruin the game when it goes live so maybe the "make it yourself gear" is still in the game and I just haven't reached it yet.

And I do not think there will be an open beta, because it will be buy to play a la guild war 2.

To be fair to the game, while at level 3 you can gather and kill a lot, that changes as you level by level 10+ you take to many on and you will die, (in fact I think some fights last to long).

The hover board is great fun :D, just wish the Granock one was bigger than the Chau one.

That's not true at all.

From my experience it is, but yeah perhaps not "generally" like I said. I think of some games that I have had beta invites for and which have gone to have open betas; the ones that have are free to play (hearthstone, firefall, path of exile) and the ones that have gone to be buy to play didn't have open betas (swtor, guild wars 2) it's a small list I admit but is the reason I don't think wildstar will have one.

Those are recent games, which yeah; didn't have traditional open betas in that they invited everyone who signed up on the last few tests, basically there was no "hey, open beta, get a key" more like "Well, if you signed up years ago and never got into closed, nows your chance" :P

But over the last decade I'd be hard pressed to find a popular MMO that didn't! Been in so many :o (Who hasn't if they're an MMO fan! )

SWTOR certainly did have an open beta and wasn't buy to play (still isn't ) It's standard for reputable MMOs to have open betas (or very open closed betas) shortly before launch.

No it didn't because if it did I would have played it, I was dying to get into that beta ("very open closed beta" is still closed beta meaning not everyone can try it). And it was buy to play at the start: the game was around £50 and it had a subscription. There is no "standard" each mmo does what they/their publisher want so it could go either way with wildstar depending on what NCSoft wants and my opinion is there won't be an open beta, if I'm wrong I'm wrong big woop. Get your facts straight before you challenge what I said.

How did you miss this?

"According to SWTOR's Twitter, the test has been scheduled for November 25th through the 28th. This represents the largest beta test for the soon-to-be-released title yet, with hundreds of thousands -- perhaps millions -- of players invited to stress-test the servers.

The test might not technically be "open" beta, but it's pretty hard at this point not to get into it. Any player who registered for beta testing prior to November 11th is automatically included, and those that didn't can grab one of the thousands and thousands of keys floating out there"

A couple of weeks before launch they invited everyone who had ever applied in, i'd say that's pretty open. Not that it matters as open betas are just marketing tools and server stress testing these days.
