Looked staged as hell. Put arms behind the back and braced for the Impact.

Isn't some other man knocking it into his wife anyhow?
 
I don't condone his behaviour. Making light of his wife's illness is a dick move.

However.. be glad it wasn't being hosted by Gervais. He'd have really ripped in to her compared to what Chris Rock came out with :eek:

Why would both of them agree to it? Think about it logically, it doesn’t make sense to stage physical assault on the largest awards show in the world when you are at the peak of careers. Clearly, you would have to be mentally deranged to agree to such a thing or even propose it. His arms were behind his back because he clearly wasn’t expecting to be hit.

What was he expecting a handshake?
 
Was the joke in poor taste? Maybe. Maybe Rock wasn't aware of her medical condition. Maybe he was and still calculated that the joke was ok to greenlight.

I mean who else better to sensor test if a joke sits well with an audience than a guy that does stand up professionally?

Should Smith have slapped him? If he was triggered, and it hit a nerve, maybe he should have addressed it by speaking to him afterward at one of the many parties they go to.

However at a formal awards ceremony viewed by god knows how many people, what must his mental state have been to think that this would be 'ok'?

The guy clearly has issues if his brain filtered this through as a reasonable response.

Don't be such a *********. The fact that people turn this into some sort of weakness on Wills part is just typical of today's attitude.

How about this. Chris took a chance with his joke, Will didn't like it so bitch slapped him. End of story. No weakness, no games, no worries. It just happened like that, end of story. So what if it was on TV or at a certain event.

If someone mugged off my missus like that I would probably do the same. It's just a fact of life and p***y footing around it and somehow mentally breaking it down is just taking it too far.

In the context of the environment they were in, no one would expect that......I mean someone would have to be a complete nut job to do this.

Because the mum joke is a common joke made by many people. It's not really aimed at the mum. But laughing at someone's illness is laughing at something they have no control over and that illness has probably caused them a lot of hurt in the past. It's similar in my eyes to laughing at someone because they are in a wheelchair.

Sorry mate but it is weakness. If you can’t control your emotions in such a situation it shows a lack of control. It’s pure impulsive emotional behaviour, there’s nothing admirable about it. There was nothing courageous about it. It showed zero wisdom.

The only thing typical of todays attitude is that ‘feelings trump all reason and logic’. Classically displayed by Smith here.
