will this run crysis maxed

When for all intensive purposes a game that is released next year could look nicer and play nicer than Crysis.
Why not spend an extra few months developing your game so that it looks beautiful and plays wonderfully on nearly all settings.

Another good example is Far Cry..
We all agree Far Cry is GORGEOUS right?
Well whats the matter with it looking even better in a years time when we'v got more powerful rigs? I loved it when I bought my new pc and installed Far Cry again, started playing it again just because of the eye-candy...

Since when did running properly have anything to do with MAX settings? REALLY? Thats just irrational.
Maybe they should just handicap the engine, so that putting the slider on HIGH is the best graphics the game will aspire to??
Then someone will have to release custom modpacks for it to make it better looking, or theyll have to patch it after a while to make it better looking?

It all ends up the same really, look at how many people still want HL2 high res texture packs etc, source engine gets updated all the time with new graphical advancements that newer technology and faster components offer..
Forgotten all the oblivion threads with people wanting high res textures, better textures, generally better everything?? It hadnt even been out v long.. It looked brilliant, but it wasnt long before quite a few people had hardware that could handle more, and there was demand for better graphics, which 3rd partys answered.

hopefully itll be patched by then, dont get what all the fuss is with dx10 and games really. No AA on it still? =/ Unless you muck about renaming things, and it can be unstable then?? =/

Just curious..why would vista ultimate be needed?
Allegedly its the only version at this time that has native Quad core support. If that info is incorrect, dont shoot the messenger, shoot the guys that told me... :p

@nickels: Sure you can set everything to max, but at what resolution and with what on screen content?

No one can guarrantee what frame rates you will get, or what impact running it at that level will have on the AI. Its all down to what FPS is acceptable to you. Like Peetee says, If it runs fine, great. If not, you have to compromise on the settings, or get a more powerfull system (as and when they evovle)

no it wont run it maxed, the developers say that nothing out now can, they are doing what they did with far cry, where current hardware can run it very nicely on high settings, but they have some options and settings which are only going to run on future hardware.

like others said no one can answer unless they got a finished copy of game(which nobody has) as for demo release might be buggy as most are so thats not a true reflection either but will give a good idea.no system available will run it maxed out at highest res. the res you running at is the key.

go on then you rooster-tease
LOL, I wish I could give all our details, but the specifics are prohibited by the NDA and EULAs we have with Crytek and EA...

For a basic test level, long view distance but not that much content

1. Not at all. (DX8 Laptop)
2. 1-5 FPS on Very high, 20-30 on low
3. 20 ish FPS on Very High, 60 on low.

Across the other 25 no one has got as high a spec as Nickels but some are close. If we use the engine sensibly, we maintain good FPS (30-60 for most machines) if we abuse it, we can break any of them...
Its that flexible...

Yeah I know without the rig specs thats no use to you all , but dont forget that this is running within the editor and the build I have is the Alpha one.

I guess what I am trying to say is; yes it is very flexible, yes there is loads of overhead for PC growth, but also they are optimising it to run on as many machines as practical.

Those advising to wait for the demo are spot on, personnaly I am not upgrading at least until release, perhaps even after...
(Still waiting on OC to offer some HW sponsorship deal :p)

(And wrt another thread here, yes my upgrade will be specifically for Crysis and OE2.)

Can i ask is OE2 gonna be significantly more network intensive online compared to counterstrike and the like because of the physics?

Dont know what the Netcode was like with CS?

Certainly with the original OE we were able to make significant improvements to the Far Cry code, as there was lot of redundancy in the reporting, but Crysis' netcode is new from the ground up.

Since we are trying to cater for all users, this is one area that is giving us a headache, and its one that wont go away unitil Crysis is golden. You may have seen Crytek make a statement that you will need a much more powerfull machine for a dedicated DX10 server as opposed to DX9?

How well optimised the final netcode is will in a large way determine where our design ends up, and how much DX10 utilisation we adopt.
Its playing havoc with aspects of level design...

Jeez that was a long "I dont know" :D
