Will we see 'delidded' i7 8700k cpu's from 8 pack, on day one?

Most users should be able to reach 5Ghz pre-delid with Coffee unless they're unlucky.
If that is the case then even if it drops at £350 I think it'll be a winner, if Intel do release a 8 core chip next year that can also do 5 Ghz then Ryzen will need a big renovation to be anywhere near Intel.

Depends on the price really. If Intel get an 8 core i7 out that will crack 5Ghz and works around the ring bus limitations for 1700X money then it will be pretty much the chip most people have dreamt of since Sandybridge. If Intel can also bump up the performance per core too then that would be awesome. I think/hope that's what Intel will bring in 2020.

Why do you assume the ring bus will be a limitation for 8 cores?

Mesh has it's own limitations when it comes to performance.
