Think I'll just go buy one friday morning now, just need ot figure out hwo to work it around work so I can actually get one! Not many people I'd trust to go get me one! :p

Not sure about white or black, I know I'll go for a 16GB, 32 is too expensive, but can always sell my ipod touch for ~£100 too!

Whatcha think people? White or Black?

Gah just rang up Natwest to double check phone insurance on my Advantage Gold account and found out because the iPhone 3Gs will cost over £500 (£528) to replace they wont insure it :/

Wouldnt even consider allowing me to absorb the cost above the £500 in some kind of excess. Basically advised when the value of the iPhone goes down under £500 I could register then.

Stupidly they still cost the 16Gb iPhone 3G around £400 (the 16Gb iPhone 3Gs is £440) which AFAIK was the orginal PAYG pricing so considering its still as high as the new equivalent I very much doubt the 32Gb one will go down anytime soon...

Anyone know of a policy that will cover the iPhone 3Gs outside of standard straight mobile phone insurance? (which always seems bit of a rip off)...

£270? What did you end up doing? :D

Just spoke to o2 who said I can cancel my current contract for £105 and then pay £184 for the 3gs on the £35/mo tariff over 18 months, really tempted, I know I can afford it, and I know if I don't do this, I'll end up buying a PAYG 3gs, selling my ipod touch, then either upgrading to a 3gs and selling it or something silly like that!

Would it be smarted to do the buyout and new contract, or buy a 3gs PAYG and downgrade to simplicity in 2 months? :(

Explain further :p. Unsure if I can add stuff to the policy and what happens for things like theft?

Soz bit of a noob when it comes to home insurance and what it covers and when etc...

With Marks & Spencer home insurance, it covers anything under a certain value for a fixed rate which you can also take out of the house too, for example: MacBooks and iPhones. Unfortunately, I don't know all the details since I didn't apply for it and anything I said might be wrong :o

What's the point in buying out the contract and why is everyone obsessed with this iPhone. It's nothing special, it's a bit of an upgrade. Fair enough if it was truly innovative but you'd be mad to spend £100 buying out the current contract for the sake of having a slightly better iPhone. Even pose "look at me rich got the new iphone" factor is no excuse as it's physically the same as the old one.

I was going to go and buy one on Friday but I'm really not in the mood to be queuing up with a bunch of nerds who have been there since 6am :( I'll order online, take delivery on monday and preserve my man points :D

For example, you'll not be able to use Visual Voicemail or benefit from unlimited data & Wi-Fi and you also find that you cannot use some of the exciting new features contained within the iPhone 3.0 OS software release. Take a look at our tariffs for iPhone below for more information and find out how to change your tariff.

Does that mean people with a simplicity tariff and pay as you go iPhone won't be able to use unlimited data?

PAYG get Web and Wifi for 12months then its £10 a month; Simplicity over £19 includes a free Bolt on so you could have web. If you want WIFI it will be an additional £7.50 a month...

Unsure if 'unlimited' means the same thing across contract, PAYG and Simplicity...

You won't get unlimited data on the standard Simplicity tariff, but you can with the data bolt-on.

Essentially, as Kemik pointed out.. to get the exact same deal as the PAYG or iPhone tariffs, you'd need an unlimited data + Wi-Fi bolt on.

I agree with you there, but I'm coming form an N95 8gb thats now taken to eating the battery for breakfast! :(

Is there anywhere to pre-order a 3gs for friday delivery on PAYG? That and then simplicity is looking like a good idea atm!

Not sure about PAYG. I believe Carphone Warehouse guarantee delivery on Friday 19th. Mobiles.co.uk (who apparently ARE carphone warehouse!?) guarantee dispatch BY the 19th and if you go via Quidco you get £60 cashback after 2 months. That's what I did.

Right, gonna order form mobiles.co.uk now, tempted to go for 24 months but I really don't know! £97 cheaper than getting the phone for 18 months, but 6 extra months at £35, do I go to save now, or in the long run? Hmm.. then the £60 back

if i buy this now, I won't have any trouble with o2 transferring my current number to this account will I? (once the account has ceased / been paid off)
