Considering they knew this was the likely outcome 18 or so years ago I’m sure both men have moved on from holding a grudge against her. Nobody was going to compare to Diana in their eyes and those of the public.

Harry had every right not to show his face today if he wanted to really sour the relationship.

You do realise Diana was their mother? Emotionally that doesn't just disappear.

No mate, didn’t have a scooby.

If they hate her they’ve done an excellent job of hiding it over the years considering how quickly stories were leaked on Harry and Meghan’s relations with the family.

The hate should be directed at their father if anyone.

It would be a ceremonial position. Dealing with visiting foreign heads of state, opening libraries etc. Doing all the things the current monarch does. The monarchy is supposed to be non-political too. Why would they need to be a politician?
Indeed. You still elect a prime minister etc....

Ed Sheeran turned them down.

How ridiculous. Electing someone just to do meet and greets. Never heard anything so backward tbh.

But that's pretty much what the monarch does already! All the Royal Prerogative powers are under the control of the Prime Minister, so during Privy Council meetings the King just rubber stamps what the PM wants doing. What did you think the monarch in the UK does?

Pay peanuts, get monkeys. No one GAF about any of those other monarchies. Waste of money. Ours is legit OG

Not sure what you mean really. Their countries are not the UK and the popularity of their monarchies with tourists surely reflects the popularity of their countries with tourists, not how much public money is spent on them. 'Ours is legit'? So are their monarchies. Surely, they should be congratulated for not wasting public money.

How much revenue do those other royal houses generate?

Why should slimming down our bloated monarchy make much difference to the tourist business they generate?

Also why do you care so much about something that doesn't affect your life? All those people walking down the mall, do you think they are crazy or do you think they are just enjoying the moment? A moment that brings people together to enjoy for some a once in a lifetime event.

I suspect that they've never thought it through properly. A lot of them will also be foreign tourists who love the old-worldie feel of it. The reason we have Charles as King is because he is the descendant of the strongest robber Barons. I much prefer egalitarianism and meritocracy to the current anachronistic constitutional arrangement.

For example, Charles went to one of the top boarding schools in Britain but he only achieved five O-Level passes and two A-Levels - a B in History and a C in French. However, he still went on to study at Trinity College, University of Cambridge, for his degree. The top university in the country at that time. If he had been a normal person then he would have ended up at a Polytechnic with those qualifications!
