One more chance to break. I don't fancy Konta's chances in another tie break. Halep is playing the big points just a little bit better.

I think Konta is playing those points better, but screwing up the winning shot. So many times she's had the chance to smash over the net and she either misses completely or puts it into the corner Halep is running without massive power. She should be absolutely smashing the hell out of it, putting some back the way Halep was coming from or dropping them just over the net.

Konta is building those big points better to the point she has those big shots to take, she was controlling so many situations but then fluffing the final shot.

I'd like to see best of five in women's tennis. What I want to know is, do 3 sets exhaust the women out as much as 5 sets do for the men. Surely tanks like Serena Williams could go 5 sets easily.

They can't do it. I watched Eastbourne the other week and because of rain they had to play two matches in one day. Even with a few hours between matches, they were running on fumes in the 2nd match.

edit: I suspect they could do it if their whole lives revolved around training for it but they don't.

One, that is a very different situation, when the body stops working out you have a whole host of hormonal changes. IF your body is geared for rest, then doing the same activity is much harder than if you're prepped for hard work.

Second, no one trains for two matches in a day and lastly, women don't train to play 5 set matches.

Amateur boxers do 3 rounds, pro boxers do 12, but when an amateur makes the switch they'll almost never fight 12 rounds for their first 5-10 fights because they previously trained for 3 rounds, not 12. They build up, you can't judge how well they'd play 5 sets if they only train to last 3 sets. Hell even if they trained to consistently play two games in a day, they'd alter their schedule, they'd adapt to the new routine, they'd work out how to eat and what to do between matches and they'd improve massively. Humans are very adaptable, but you need to give them a chance to adapt.

EDIT:- she got the break , 3-2 and her serve next. Come on.
