The trinity based APU that this new AMD chip has will enable me to build an excellent media centre which will be able to decode 1080p movies without a problem and give my media setup the chance to play computer games at a fairly decent graphical level (without the added expense of a graphics card). As I will not need a graphics card, I will be able to design a custom computer case for my HTPC setup - and there will be minimal cooling involved. Processor only cooling at a low RPM, effectivley silent setup.

This new launch will enable me, and others to design HTPC computers that can pack a fair punch. A beast of a gaming rig whilst as quiet as a mouse in operation - saving energy, space and money.

I want to get my brother off his 360 and into the beautiful world of pc gaming and I think Trinity would be the perfect foundation for starting him off.

Would for the first time tempt me away from intel chips. Faster, more effecient, and blistering GPU performance on one chip. I'll take a large with Salt and Vinegar.
This chip also lends itself well to overclocking with it's unlocked mulitplier, which would again tempt me to try another first and OC.
All in all would be a new and exciting turn for me in personal computing, and one hell of a chip to do it with.

Well, have you seen the vid OCUK posted of these beats playing Borderlands 2? It's awesome :D It can play it @ medium/high, without a dedicated graphics card, at very easily playable frame rates! This would benefit me because these would be awesome for a cheap LAN party PC, a great media centre for my lounge, simple yet affective solution just for the best bang for buck Destop PC (General use), and I could finally tempt some guys n' galls to turn to the PC 'Master' Race :P :D

My current Ion 330 HTPC lacks any oomph for gaming, and this would be a perfect replacement as it will give me the power I desire, but still use the low wattage that I need.

New AMD APUs and Gigabyte's F2A85X-UP4 A85X motherboard are YES YES YES stunning gaming performance with no dedicated PCIe graphic card. It would benefit me YES YES YES in gaming.. don't cheat yourself.. as those APUs have more Radeon cores than ever. Motherboard itself is next step in design evolution YES YES YES, merely due to Digital Power and Ultra Durable 5 technology which includes high current and cooler temperature. 7 GHz for that hardware YES YES YES is just what extreme overclockers should have !

AMD Trinity outclasses Llano with its improved overclocking core, improved overclockable GPU and overclockable memory support in a compact package. Triple monitor support from the Gigabyte motherboard and dual graphics capability from a 6 series AMD card appeals to office and entertainment users alike.

Would benefit me as my current HTPC is based on a G530 which is useless for gaming. Using the built in GFX of this will allow some gaming from the sofa. My old G530 and mobo can then be donated to my kids :)

Well I need the AMD Trinity as my brother has the AMD Llano, so I can try to compare them, see which one is better and I can use it in my own rig :) If I were to choose AMD Trinity (Judging by the great gaming performance) or my Intel Celeron G530 I would deffo choose trinity. I will also be able to buy a 6670/ 7670 and buy a small Mini-ITX case . This case would be small and very quiet whilst making me very happy due to having a nice small AMD box / brick :). Yes the cooler is big, but I will probably give the cooler to my brother and buy a stock cooler, or get a Bitfenix Prodigy 'Ying'
As you can see I want this really really badly :)

ENTRY :D

Having recently built a Llano set up for a friend on a budget, in all honestly its a cracker, but for me, I like to have all the settings up high and watch the FPS counter be at 60 (ish).
Would be a stonker of a set up for my brother. I dont need it (dont get me wrong, Id make use of it as a HTPC or something), but my brother would benefit from this so much more, being his first system an-all.

It would benefit me for a HTPC by using less power while bringing more performance and even decent gaming capabilities in a lightweight small form factor case without the need for a dedicated gpu.

"AMD's trinity offers an APU with a big punch with low power consumtion and an affordable price, its pretty much the R2-D2 of the cpu world, compared to the AT-AT of the intel world......
now how would this small R2-D2 benefit me? well i have a very old (in technology terms) Athlon x4 640 which is in much need of retirement to the jawa sand crawler and to then be brought by Luke Skywalkers uncle to then discover it blows up in front of him and he can then request to buy R2-D2.... now since i have an NZXT Phantom white which effectilvey looks like a stormtrooper..... i think this small R2-D2 APU would be right at home using its super fast brain power to evade capture from the stromtrooper that is my pc case :)......... Now May the force (powered by an AMD A10 APU, Gigabyte F2A85X-UP4 and then cooled by a Zalman CNPS14X) be with you........

I'm so poor I once had to beg for spare change outside a homeless drop in center.

getting this kit will mean I no longer have to spend my spare time watching the mrs. playing snake on her nokia 3210 and can play medal of honor allied assault as mac res on my 14" CRT monitor

As I was looking to do my 3rd Build and give my currant system to my son, I was again going to go with AMD for myself ..so when I saw that OcUK were going to be stocking the new Trinity from AMD that was going to be my choice, But....my Wife has just been made redundant and there is no spare money it's not an option to buy the new Trinity :(....so the only way I will be able to do a new build is to ( with fingers crossed) to be lucky enough win this competition :)

The AMD APU and Gigabyte board will allow me to play the latest PC games in the comfort of my living and put my Xbox to one side :) also allow me to link to my server and use the HTPC function when not gaming :)

AMD finally can say they're ahead of the competition with their affordable CPU's and GPU's they make building a machine with low budget great.

Trinity is the evolution of the LLano APU. In a similar way to the "TOCK" strategy of Intel, AMD adopted the same 32 nm technology but updated the cpu and gpu part integrated in this new APU, made of a whopping 1.303 billion transistors. AMD is using now the new Piledriver architecture (in Llano the cpu part was still an "Husky" core, derived from Athlon2/Phenom2 core) combined with a Northern Island chip with VLIW-4 as graphics.

Using an updated core means a better branch prediction, more efficiency for the L2 cache and a better hardware prefetch. The TLB is now bigger and now there is the Turbo Core 3.0, overclocking both the CPU and GPU depending on the needs!

The Trinity GPU part adopts a new VLIW-4 architecture, Northen Island, used in HD6900 cards (compared to the old VLIW-5 of LLano APU)! In the A10 APU we find 384 stream processors...that are good to play with decent resolution..without the need to buy another card. You get a tesselation hardware unit too, UVD and much more!
Of course if you need more power, you need a discrete graphic card. Your APU will work in Dual Graphics mode with vliw-5 discrete gpus, or will use only the discrete card if you are using a new GCN card (7xxx).

AMD took in account energy consumption too, giving us the most powerful Trinity APU, the A10-5800K with a TDP of "only" 100W. Consider that it's a Quad Core with Piledriver architecture and an integrated 7660D gpu with a base clock of 3.8GHz and a Turbo Core frequency of 4.2GHz..and it's unlocked too (because it has the "k" letter)....and making it a dream for everyone...overclockers too!

The new mobo F2A85X-UP4 is an high-end solution from Gigabyte based on the new FM2 socket and the new chipset AMD A85X. It gives plenty of expandibility allowing CrossFireX and a lot of external connectors. We also get a new UEFI BIOS and a Design Ultra Durable 5 that implies high quality capacitors and components. Thanks to the double clock generator integrated in the new FM2 Gigabyte motherboards you can get higher performances overriding the bus limit of the processor.

All this would benefit me letting me updating from their previous Phenom2 cpu to a new APU with higher frequency, updated design and a fast integrated GPU! I would benefit from the new motherboard too because of its quality and reliability, Usb3.0 and many expansion slots! I'm an overclocker too...so it would be nice to find the limit of the APU, maybe with a liquid cooling solution!

The Gigabyte motherboard and the A10 APU would benefit my brother in many ways. He's still suck on his old Xbox 360 and the visuals on it makes me want to cry. He wishes to get into PC gaming and having a FM2 socket APU and motherboard would most certainly be a good stepping stone for a fantastic system especially since it has improved performance (both IPC and GPU wise) over the Llano series, it would help give him a more satisfying experience when playing games and generally when using the computer.

If i got the A Trinity APU it would mean i could get rid of my Q9450 + 460 and have nearly the same performance but with much lower power requirements.

I would also like to put it in a small mini itx case and have the same performance i get from my current build (Fractal Design Define XL) but in a much smaller package.
