Win8 Tablets

Hi all. i have been keeping an eye on the windows 8 surface pro tablets and was wondering if there is any release date and price yet?

It seems that other manufactures are lagging behind as i have not seen or played with any of the other win 8 alternative tablets.

Are Asus releasing one similar to the Transformer prime?

For my needs i am looking at the pro version so i can run full x86 applications and games.

It has been a shamble.
Seems they just didn't have the devices in the manufacturing que.

Would be better if they saw the surface and where rushing in updates to the products, but I haven't seen anything to suggest that. Just seems like total unpreparedness and then when companies do start getting limited supply, it obviously goes to USA first.

I reckon this is the primary reason why MS decided to make their own. I mean, if they had left it up to the OEMs, where would we be?

A Microsoft spokesperson I contacted on Wednesday would say only that the tablet will be available within 70 days, which could put its release into next year. Microsoft isn't saying what's causing the delay.

By the time non Microsoft Windows 8 tablets start appearing you might as well wait for Surface Pro...

I feel this has been a very terrible launch for windows 8 tablets as a whole.

The OS itself and its marketing has been great but the tablet devices have dissapointed .

It is a shame because this was a wonderful opportunity to sell windows 8 tablets during the xmas season.

Depends how low your budget is, but you could get a Windows 8 Tablet for about £275 (Acer W500 for £250 + Windows 8 Upgrade £25). And I reckon that would probably run better than a Windows RT tablet.

I've decided to take my own advice. Gonna see if I can grab a 2nd hand W500 from eBay for £200, and upgrade early next year once the Surface Pro and other i3/5 tablets are released reviewed and fallen apart.

I'm just waiting on the next generation, think it's been a complete failure on the tablet front so far, only really Surface readily available by the looks of it.
Google and Apple both have their stuff sorted for the Christmas period.
