Windows 10 Game Mode these results look promising

either the game mode or the game bar causes very noticeable stutter for me.

frame times all over the place. (gsysnc monitor BTW)

ive always had gamebar disabled.

not worth the hassle for me at the moment.

Has anybody got any ideas why although ive updated all the new window updates i have no way a tall of find game mode?.

Its always been weird in my settings i have no gaming tab so no way of enabling it there. Ive got my Xbox Microsoft dashboard went into settings there still no sight of game mode. I opened windows button plus g in battlefield 1 and got the windows gaming tab but no sign of it there.

Ive always been confused as of why my settings tab in windows has no gaming section like a lot of people have.

Any ideas guys???

if you cant see the new gaming section under settings of windows you don't have the creators update.

when you installed all of the windows updates did you PC do a a set-up like when you first installed windows 10? if not then you don't have it.

Noticed weird motion blur/stuttering playing FIFA 17 last night too and I have gsync 144mhz. Turned it off for now.

If you want it before your machine downloads it via Windows Updates go here

https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/4014184/windows-10-creators-update-here

download upgrade assistant and it will install the Windows 10 Creator Update.

Hopefully even if it's not a major boost it will smooth things out. I used to use gamebooster which did something similar. It closes and reduces memory usage on all applications. It sets the game prioritisation to high and i did notice slightly smoother gameplay. Hoping microsofts version will work better. Ive been suggesting for ages to microsoft to make their OS more game friendly. To either incorporate a way to turn the OS into a gaming OS or just make a lighter version of their OS and tailor it to gamers. Seems they are starting to take notice.

I couldn't get the game bar to show up last night so I couldn't try the Game Mode.

Pressing Win + G does absolutely nothing for me (checked settings and all was fine in there, though I did have xbox DVR turned off so I dunno if that caused it)

When you launch a game, do you see the little green box that pops up saying press win + g?

I have found some of my games it works on, others it does not.

ohh got it installed via the iso tool last night, BF4 does seem a little different though im using a core i7/GTX960m laptop so it should run full tit no matter what.

its only works on games that are approved by microsoft in full screen.

For me works in BF1, Overwatch but did not work in Doom (Vulkan) or Dead space 3.. to get it to work you have to switch the game into window mode.. hit Win+G set the game mode option for that game and then switch back to full screen.

You should only need to do it once as the EXE is then added to the invisible game mode list.. dont know why Microsoft does not just let us handle the list of EXE's ourselves just like you can in NCP and set different settings for different games.

Did some bench marks on GTA with game mode on and off

Based on 2 runs with restart after each run

Without Game mode
FPS
Min 53.7960832
Max 152.3716996
Avg 104.0603792

With game mode on
FPS
Min 62.9716744
Max 143.4573532
Avg 99.81192

Not really sure what to make of it really, over all I would say it made no difference.

Better minimums. Worth it I would say.

I didn't get anything - I used to see that bar come up in the past but I've not seen it in a while - I'm wondering if it's got something to do with me disabling Game DVR in the Xbox app.

Will test later and see if it does much.

you need game bar enabled for that.

Well it's very messily implemented at the moment. Installed the win10 creator update, set everything up in the new "gaming" settings section, and could not bring up the gaming bar either on the desktop or in any games using Win + G or my xbox 360 pad central button.

Thanks to the post above I tried "Alt+ Enter" when in a game to take it out of full screen mode, and then tried Win + G and it brings up the game bar! Where on any Microsoft documentation does it say you need to do that!!?

On the game bar settings option there is then a little tick box option to "enable game mode for this game" or whatever it says. You then have to Alt + Enter to go back into full screen mode (I always run fullscreen due to best Gsync and SLI performance).

Couldn't see any real benefits whatsoever in FPS (using rivatuner stats). Tried turning on and off and then wouldn't let me mouse or control any options and had to ctrl alt delete quit out the game. what a load of *****!

I've not had to switch to windowed mode on any of the games I've tried it on so not quite sure what's happening there.

Hmmm, wonder if it's a Gsync, SLI, or combination of both issue perhaps? Reading up on it, whilst a decent idea it sounds like a waste of time really if you've got a decent beefy gaming system.

I actually use a wee prog called full throttle for all my games anyway. Mainly as I like to run my cpu 'adaptive' so it's downclocked and low volts as possible when not gaming, and you can easily assign full cpu use and comp power scheme performance automatically on a per exe game basis using the full throttle prog. Definitely helps with a few slight stutter issues I had in some games when my cpu clock would fluctuate up and down without it.

My pc did an update last night, but no game mode in settings? I had it before to try and uninstalled, and now I've got nothing. Win key and G didnt open a thing when I launched the witcher.
