Windows 10

10049 is available on the fast ring, but it's basically updates to spartan - which brings some questions with it:

1.) How do you add extensions?
2.) Is there a way to clear history

Additionally, I appear to be having some issues with the start menu not responding when I select the start icon.

Install 10074 which is just released today, should sort any Start issues.

Installed the new build at work and the display driver problem that cropped up in build 10049 is now resolved so back to using at work :)

I like it so far, no issues, apart from having to create a new windows 10 windows profile but think that might have been because of group policy messing it up. I had error messages when trying to run explorer or even open the start menu before i created a new windows profile.

Did you download it, or are you on the fast ring?

At work I used a spare pc, downloaded the iso, mounted it and installed it from there. What happened i think is that i have some restrictive group policy and i had an existing windows 10 roaming profile from previous use at work. The group policy and the old profile led to the problems with the start menu and the rest. After deleting the local profile and disabling the roaming profile and relogging in it loaded fresh profile with no issues.

AT home i am on the fast ring and have the updated ready to install but will do it later as might mess up my remote access to home pc while at work.

That bothers me. I'm not seeing it on my update list.

Mines been on preparing to install for ages.
Tablet mode is meant to be much less broken in this version, I hope so.

And liked all the announces at build.
I just hope the start screen in tablet mode and how it worlds for win32 apps is decent, so far it's been atrocious.

Tablet mode's better than it has been previously, it's still no where near on par with Windows 8.1's tablet mode (Stock). Why on Earth they don't just use that is beyond me.

Store seems to be ridiculously slow.
Downloading Spartan Assault has taken me longer to download than GTA 5 did.

Just installed build 10074 from the iso clean install. Cortana is at last working for me - except I cannot hear her, anybody else get this problem. My sound is working fine otherwise.

I'm not sure her UK sound files are there - try setting her to the American version.

Incidentally, a (semi) aero tweak is here:

"Seems some didn't get the aero look "blur" . If you want to enabled just run Regedit and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\themes\personalize and set blur behind to 1. There is also an option in the theme color settings though not sure if it will show for non-blur previewers. enjoy!"

Got some hilarious display driver problems with the stock Intel driver and the AMD Driver on the auto update.

PC's a paper weight :p

Think I have to install windows with no internet (with my possible faulty AMD GPU). Then install the latest Intel driver (As the stock one on a fresh install won't display in Windows, goes out of range....), to then see if I can disable auto updating of drivers and then install the latest AMD beta.

Soon as the auto updater installs the AMD Driver my PC BSOD's.

How on Earth :p?

I literally just ran it from a USB Drive as a disk and presto.

Caused Explorer to crash constantly (every second), screen flicker, and obviously as I was missing all the drivers no interfaces worked.

Then the recovery was all screwed and I couldn't get back, and the Stream 7 doesn't come with recovery media.

So I ended up finding a torrent of 8.1 with Bing and reinstalling fresh.
