Windows 10

You can enable it in desktop.
Right click taskbar > navigation > when I point to top right corner, show the charms.
But I cant get it to work either with mouse or shortcut keys. But I know others have.

if you could stop it using bing to search and use google would be brilliant. using edge right now

the settings there, so when it launches you can change it to what you want.

anyone see how to turn names off on the favorites bar? on ie you right clicked. but I cant see anything on spartan.
and they should have kept spartan as the name.

Whats the official word on IE? Will it be in W10? Will Spartan be in the Business versions of W10?

Like it or not IE is still the primary browser for business, and a lot of stuff requires legacy versions too. I spend my entire working life consulting on software that has only just started supporting IE10 (grr, Oracle!), so to 'weekday' me, Spartan is just yet another unsupported browser I'm going to have to deal with!

My company is a Microsoft partner and likes to keep up to date, so soon I will have a work laptop where the OS, IE/default browser, and Office versions are all unsupported by the software I use to do my job

From what I have been reading the word from Microsoft is that IE will be included with win10 as well as edge due to legacy support

why didn't MS keep the windows 8/8.1 start screen for tablet mode in windows 10? it would have been much better.

Thought the idea was (atleast it should be) that you can customise the start function from everything from a simple menu to full blown start screen :S

Metro-style apps for video, images and music by default. It's Windows 8.0 all over again. \o/ /o\

It looks as though the classic Windows Update "app" has been removed from Control Panel\All Control Panel Items.

I wish I could force Windows 10 to give me the classic settings experience by default. I hope someone will find a registry hack for this.

Winamp is still a thing?

I was rubbing the technical preview a bit ago but rolled back to win 8.1 because the calculator disappeared.

Looking forward to playing my xbox games on my pc screen though. That could be handy.

Yep! been using Winamp for Years!!!

Do you mean This:

Calculator??

Ya!

I posted about it a few pages ago. It was really weird. No calculator in the menu, didn't show up in start and when I used the run box to run "calc.exe" I got a box telling me there was nothing installed that could run that and opened an snotty page on the store. So weird and my google-fu failed me.

Didn't totally put me off windows 10. I know its just a preview but its looking to be a very good OS indeed.

Well it has to default to something. Make sense that its the Modern UI app as its easier for a desktop user to switch the default away from a tablet app than it would be to default all tablet users to the desktop apps.

If there sensible the "tablet mode" button should handle this, although that stops working if you change the default to anything other than a native app.

At the end of the day though on a desktop your only going to see the Modern app once before you change the default and then never see it again, so its hardly a big issue :p.

Just because they now open in a window rather than full screen doesn't suddenly mean the Modern UI versions of the apps are any good for a multi monitor, large display computer.
