Windows 10

Two quick ones for everyone:

Has anyone noticed the edge browser acting a little sluggish/unresponsive on certain websites? Not so much that the scrolling is laggy but more that there is a delay between scrolling on your mousewheel, and the actual page moving?

Has anyone had display corruption? Basically all windows turned white and the taskbar 'froze'. I could still manipulate things in the background but it would just glitch about. Managed to sign out via the keyboard shortcuts and it returned to normal..

I'm from 2012 and it runs as fast today as it did then.

Same here, I installed Windows 8 Pro when it came out in 2012, then upgraded to 8.1 Pro, then onto Windows 10 Pro.

I have upgraded my hardware a few times on the same installation (mobo, CPU's, GPU's HDD's) and my system runs as fast as the day I first installed Windows 8.

I have tons of stuff but I keep things clean and tidy. Boot times from hitting the power button to loading every program (22) 50 secs, I have a lot of stuff running that I use so the boot time for what I'm running is pretty good.

There was an issue with 8.1 that booting the PC to the login screen was very quick, but loading the desktop it would load a few things, freeze loading anything else for 20secs or so and then everything else would load instantly, never did figure out the cause of it as it never caused and issue whatsoever in use, even after running for days. Upgrading over the top to Windows 10 fixed that login issue immediately :)

I have been running 10 since build 10240 came out 2 weeks ago and everything has been running great. Windows 10 is very polished and very quick.

The search box is a little weird often preferring a web search over running a local program.

Type reged and it will search the web for regedit. However you have to type regedit in full before it offers to run the program.

Another example is dxdi which will search the web for dxdiag. But again you have to type it in full to run it.

Run netplwiz and uncheck user must enter a name and password to use this computer.

Oh and the reason you're missing icons is Cortana is it Isn't supported with language and region. Although I swear MS said it would be available at launch in UK.

Could also set a pin for quicker login. But I see why you'd want to disable it on a desktop.

Picture password on tablet/laptop. auto login on desktop and htpc is how I've got mine set up.
Especiallynas desktop is used mainly for stream streaming, so I dint want to have to login every time.

Mine is doing that with the Intel HD4000 driver, from looking around there's actually no way to stop it installing drivers automatically, that option I've shown in the above screenshot doesn't even work...

thanks, I managed to install an older version of RST and all seems OK.

My only problem now is my pc takes around a minute to boot  no programmes installed just drivers & updates.

Anyone any ideas on this? ... I have a local account setup with no password.

Just upgraded to Windows 10 and now Outlook doesn't send emails, they just sit in the mailbox with an error 0x800CCC13 :(

Seems like I'm not the only one either. Running sfc /scannow as that seems to fix it.

I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing some weird slow loading things... Like sometimes randomly it will take ages to run something or when I was uninstalling my graphic card drivers last night it took about 25 minutes on a SSD lol. Also when I booted into safe mode it took about 10 minutes to load up....Quite annoying.

All up and running on my main PC.

Just lost some Creative X-Fi sound enhancements but can live with that until Creative pull their finger out..

@Matson: I have noticed at times it is very unresponsive, like my work pc would do sometimes. Opening a folder would do nothing. Then maybe it decides to load.

Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 doesn't work on Win10 either.

I found a link to KIS 2016 on the Kaspersky forum, which does work. Maybe there is a 2016 version of the AV as well.

Well managed to reclaim my 40 gigs or so by deleting windows old http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/2527-windows-old-folder-delete-windows-8-a.html

...but lost My Kaspersky Anti Virus. windows 10 wont have it

2015 works fine with me, I had to reinstall it after the Windows 10 upgrade.

You either have to install the newest 2015 distribution (this is patched to a recent level and will work with Win 10 and survive the upgrade), or install the just released 2016 version.

My Cortana is working fine with UK settings. Doubt I will ever use it but it works fine.

Question.

Once upgraded to Windows 10 and activated. How would using that Windows 8.1 key on a VM ware or something work out?

Need to get my theme set again as changed it and Win10 only has single image backgrounds. Kinda sucks.

I like shuffle backgrounds. But might just keep windows 8.1 on a VMware install. I guess I'll need another licence as its an "upgrade"?

All done :)

W10 causing issues with Steam Games, can't go fullscreen otherwise you just get a black screen. Really weird, other games work fine (Except BF4). Thinking maybe this is just an issue for those that did fresh install rather than upgrade..

This happened straight after updating from Windows 7/8 to W10 or did you do a fresh reinstall?

After an update from windows 7, it worked the first boot but after a reboot its now broken and i cant even connect to the Windows 8.1 machine that the drives are in.

Infact im pretty sure it was converting my user account into a microsoft account that broke it, seems to be a lot of results on google from windows 8 doing the same.

EDIT: converted my account back to a local account and now i can access the network shares again.

What kind of error are you getting? I get an error trying to connect to my freenas server but if I leave it for a little while after I first try - it magically works again - go figure, almost died when I couldnt access it, was like "well im going back to w7" lol
