Windows 10

i am finding it very frustrating coming from windows 7.. some simple tasks on window 7 is not logical on windows 10!

Like what for example?

The backup tool has been changed, and it isn't immediately obvious how to simply make a system image without turning on file history, and having it decide what file types and history it wishes to generate.

I am still messing about to get it as I want it to be.

I'm also finding certain things frustrating, like looking for a file modified between two dates. This used to be a simple menu option, but now you have to type your own search string.

I cannot get OneDrive to backup my onedrive folder. In Windows 7, it was automatic, and kept all my devices up-to-date.

Guess I have a lot to learn in this new system, so I'm glad I installed early. I still really like it though, and have had no problems with any hardware or software.

Well that latest update is rubbish. It's created a second account for some reason. Using same Ms login info..
But only showing one user account in control panel. So I can't delete it, so now computer won't auto log in, infuriating.
Seeing as it's given itself a login name. But used email and password from main account.

Any idea how to delete it?

Though update worked fine on tablet,, but that's picture password, not auto sign in using settings in netplwiz.

The auto upgrade thingymebob says nvidia 6800 card is too old to work with win 10. Is that correct, I can change that card but since its basically just displaying plain text mostly I wouldnt bother otherwise.

Maybe I can get to ignore and carry on or not

Probably more to do with drivers than anything else.
They're also doing the release in waves and more and more hardware support will come in.

But I expect it would be fine doing the media creation tool and installing it that way. I bet it would auto install some compatible driver.

I hope that MS realize the balls up they have brought out and start to rectify these glaring problems! Def not a polished release

Thanks, fortunately it worked fine the second time round. It also happened to ask for my 'start up' preferences twice at the initiation of Windows 10, perhaps because I said no to most of their privacy requests! :p

Another slight gripe I'm experiencing is the start menu's search inability to actually find installed software. Normally just searching for 'word' will find me Microsoft Word, but alas not now, not even so I can pin it to the start menu.

Care to elaborate on this? Genuinely intrigued into what issues people are having simply because I have had none(but then I may use my PC for different reasons than you)

FFS.

Even with automatic driver installation turned off, Win Update is still pushing out to my devices drivers.

Just had the Catalyst Control centre pushed out to my PC. Despite me having the latest driver already installed minus the CCC as I don't want it.

I can see this became a real headache.

Another annoying thing is Win Defender is asking me every day to scan, despite having done it the day before.

Only 2 crashes for me but there are numerous posts about the various issues with the new OS

Another 25 minutes to get a usable system this evening with Windows 10 deciding to install some sort of patches with no warning.

.... oh and since its come backup after doing so the notification centre won't open at all ... it'll tell me I have notifications but nothing happens if I try to access it.

Updated tonight from 7 (none clean install) and surprised to see no issues so far. By default 353.62 has been installed. 3dmark11 is scoring nearly 400 points lower compared to 7 and it seems to be down to the physics score, roughly 550-650 points down compared with 7, not sure on the graphics compared with 353.38 on 7. Will try clean install with new ssd tomorrow.

Remove the ENG from the taskbar

I know i seen it somewhere on this thread, tried to use the search to no avail, and it only appeared today.
So any body know how to get it off the taskbar. Thanks

Normally only shows if you have multiple languages installed.
Settings > time and languages > region & language and delete anything other than UK.

So after the last Windows updates I noticed for some reason everything was slower to load.

Decided to uninstall Libre Office today as I didn't use it and now everything is snappy again. I'm guessing there's something about Libre that was causing it... I was worried I had to reinstall 10 :p.

Is this the setting you've turned off?

Because I believe that is only for driver installations when you plug something into a USB port etc.

Tried a few versions now, imho the best version of Windows 10 is...

Windows 10 Enterprise 2015 LTSB X64.

It comes with tighter privacy options, no annoying APPS running in the background. More control over Updates. And no junk pre installed, i.e a nice clean start menu with no junk APPS.

Definitely worth giving this one a try !
