uhm what is a hoseathon?

I would guess it's because Edge is more than the .exe, much like IE was built into Windows they've done the same with Edge (edgehtml.dll) and I'm guessing Microsoft don't do a "if" file exists patch it "if" not continue in their patches.

Could you let me know the build version that's installed when you try it? I've tried to download 19043.1021 from a UUP dump site (unsure if I can link), but the script fails at the first couple of hurdles.

I'm on Windows 10 Dev 21382.1 now on laptop and desktop.

EDIT: That's a bummer can't revert back unless I format. Guess it's a good time now to build my fresh ISO n get these two devices onto 21H1.

Well I used the Media Creation Tool to download 21H1, which was then installed in VirtualBox. The initial installer version was 19041.928 and the installed version of Windows was 19043.928 before any checking for Windows Updates.

Before I ran Windows Update, I checked the integrity of the installation by running "SFC /SCANNOW" which found errors. I believe this is currently a thing with the 1904x.x version of Windows, but nobody seems to know why.

Windows Update brought the installed version of Windows to 19043.985, which must be the current stable version of 21H1 just now.

I'm going for it, two full formats in a record breaking 10 mins flat. As soon as this ISO is created.

No data on primary drives.

Updated my laptop from 20H2 to 21H2 tonight, no issues at all. In spite of this, I'm still going to do a fresh install to get rid of all the bloat, including Cortana. Just customising my images now with MSMG's Toolkit.

Well desktop format went fine but my Asus Zenbook 14 was giving me a few problems. Intel Optane setup and also Windows Hello wasn't working until I did some more changes.

All good now, systems done.

I just went for the format route was easy enough to do and means I'm up to date now. Have you enabled the ransomware feature? You can protect the system from any new ransomware attacks that encrypt files.
